The Goursat problem for Maxwell’s equations

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1990
Using the spinor formalism of electromagnetism, the Goursat problem for Maxell’s equations is defined and some examples of solutions are given.

Multidimensional Goursat problem for semilinear wave equations

Applied Mathematics-A Journal of Chinese Universities, 1994
The author studies the Goursat problem for semilinear wave equations in multidimensional space \[ \square u= f(x, t, u),\;(x, t)\in \Gamma,\;u|_{\partial\Gamma}= 0, \] where \((x, t)\in \mathbb{R}^{n+ 1}\), \(n\geq 2\), \(f\) is a \(C^\infty\) function of its arguments, and \(\Gamma= \{(x, t)\mid |x|\leq t\}\), \(\partial\Gamma= \{(x,t)\mid|x|= t ...

The Goursat problem with integral boundary conditions

Ukrainian Mathematical Journal, 1990
Here is proved uniqueness and existence of the classical solution of a nonlinear Goursat problem with integral boundary conditions. This main result of the paper is obtained on the basis of the contraction mapping principle and the method of successive approximations. A priori estimates for the solution in question and its partial derivatives are found.

Riemann and goursat problems for one-dimensional classical plasticity

International Journal of Engineering Science, 1983
Abstract One-dimensional motions for a class of rate independent elastic-plastic materials are considered. Goursat and Riemann problems are investigated by means of similarity solutions. Uniqueness of the solution for both problems is ensured by adopting a physical principle stated by Suliciu[l]; moreover the solution itself is constructed in all the

On singular problems of Goursat and Cauchy

Ukrainian Mathematical Journal, 1969
Introduction. In this paper the problems of Goursat and Cauchy are investigated for equations of hyperbolic type with singular coefficients. Effective algorithms are presented for constructing Duhamel functions of such singular initial problems, reducing these problems to a recurrent sequence of ordinary linear nonhomogeneous differential equations of ...
