Multidecadal Changes in ENSO Drive a Substantial Decline in West Antarctic Sea Ice Predictability

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 15, 16 August 2026.
Abstract ENSO teleconnections are a key source of Antarctic sea‐ice predictability, particularly in the Antarctic Dipole (ADP) region, but whether this predictability remains stable under the recent transition toward Central Pacific (CP) El Niño is unclear.

Two types of North American droughts related to different atmospheric circulation patterns [PDF]

open access: yesClimate of the Past, 2019
Proxy-based studies suggest that the southwestern USA is affected by two types of summer drought, often termed Dust Bowl-type droughts and 1950s-type droughts. The spatial drought patterns of the two types are distinct.

Clinical Validation of a QSP Model for ISB 2001, a Trispecific T Cell Engager to Support Optimal FIH Study Design in RRMM Patients

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 120, Issue 2, Page 452-464, August 2026.
ISB 2001 is a trispecific antibody that binds to two tumor‐associated antigens (TAA), CD38 and BCMA, and crosslinks to CD3 on T cells resulting in T cell‐mediated cytotoxicity of tumor cells expressing these TAAs. ISB 2001 is currently being tested in relapsed and/or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) patients in the first‐in‐human (FIH) TRIgnite‐1 ...

Giant Prostatic Hyperplasia : Fourth largest prostate reported in medical literature

open access: yesSultan Qaboos University Medical Journal, 2014
A giant prostatic hyperplasia (GPH) weighing more than 700 g is a rare entity. It is believed that only eight such cases have been previously reported in the medical literature.

Designing chiral organic small molecules for circularly polarized light detection via group theory

open access: yesInfoMat, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
The chiral point group determines the arrangement of the μ‐m of chiral organic small molecules, thereby influencing their chiral photoelectric properties. In particular, chiral molecules with the D2 point group can effectively align the μ‐m to be either 0° or 180°, an effective strategy for high‐performance circularly polarized light photodetectors ...

Dynamic mechanisms of summer Korean heat waves simulated in a long‐term unforced Community Climate System Model version 3

open access: yesAtmospheric Science Letters, 2020
We investigate the natural variability of summer Korean heat waves through a long‐term (500 year) unforced simulation using the Community Climate System Model version 3.

Evaluation of Molybdenum as a Surrogate for Iridium in the GPHS Weld Development

open access: yes, 2015
The welding equipment used for welding iridium containers (clads) at Los Alamos National Laboratory is twenty five years old and is undergoing an upgrade. With the upgrade, there is a requirement for requalification of the welding process, and the opportunity for process improvement.

Ultrasound‐Guided Liposomal vs. Conventional Bupivacaine Erector Spinae Plane Block Plus Gabapentin for Postherpetic Neuralgia

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, Volume 42, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to compare efficacy and safety of ultrasound‐guided erector spinae plane block (ESPB) using liposomal (LB) versus conventional bupivacaine (CB), each plus standardized gabapentin, in patients with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). A total of 116 PHN patients were randomized to ESPB‐LB or ESPB‐CB; both groups received standardized ...

Locally correct confidence intervals for discrete sampling distributions

open access: yesStatistica Neerlandica, Volume 80, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT When a sampling distribution is discrete, the coverage of a confidence interval follows a sequence of peaks and troughs when plotted against the value of the parameter of interest. Then methods of forming a confidence interval must either be conservative, with a coverage that is almost always above the nominal confidence level, or give a ...

Collagen Hydrolysates From Tilapia Skin: Discovery of LGPL as a Bioactive Peptide Targeting RPN2 to Attenuate UVB‐Induced Photoaging

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 4, July 2026.
The key findings and main message of the work: (1) A novel collagen tetrapeptide LGPL with potent anti‐photoaging activity was identified. (2) LGPL mitigates skin photoaging by promoting cellular repair, reducing oxidative stress, and enhancing Type I collagen synthesis. (3) RPN2 is confirmed as the direct intracellular target of LGPL.
