The photoswitchable ABAMIs for the future regulation of GWT1 in a spatiotemporal level

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
The GWT1‐targeted azobenzene‐aminopyridine derivatives (ABAMIs), sensitive to the light at wavelengths from 365 to 520 nm, are separately developed as photochromic ligands to regulate bioactivity as well as the GWT1 functions. These molecules are smart tools in photopharmacological studies, giving an innovative method for understanding functional GWT1 ...

Potential roles of plant metabolites and Traditional Chinese Medicine formulas in regulating glycolysis-OXPHOS plasticity in gastric precancerous lesions and gastric cancer: a critical appraisal of the evidence

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
The Warburg effect in tumor cells is characterized by increased glucose uptake, enhanced glycolytic flux, and the conversion of pyruvate to lactate for energy generation, rather than its utilization in oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), even under ...

GenL: an extensible fitting program for Laue oscillations and whole‐pattern fitting

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, EarlyView.
We present GenL, a flexible program utilizing differential evolution within a genetic algorithm that can be used to simulate and/or fit X‐ray diffraction data from epitaxial thin films exhibiting Laue oscillations.GenL is a flexible program that can be used to simulate and/or fit X‐ray reflectivity and X‐ray diffraction data from epitaxial thin films ...

Genetic differentiation and adaptive evolution of buff‐tailed bumblebees in Asia

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the genetic differentiation and local adaptation of the buff‐tailed bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) across its European and Asian populations. Using whole‐genome resequencing, we identified distinct genetic differences between populations, with Asian B. terrestris representing a unique genetic resource.

Incubation of human sperm with micelles made from glycerophospholipid mixtures increases sperm motility and resistance to oxidative stress. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Membrane integrity is essential in maintaining sperm viability, signaling, and motility, which are essential for fertilization. Sperm are highly susceptible to oxidative stress, as they are rich in sensitive polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), and are ...

When machines invent: How AI shapes patent litigation outcomes

open access: yesAmerican Business Law Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer merely a tool of invention. It has become an inventor. As AI systems increasingly contribute to the design and discovery of new technologies, their involvement raises novel challenges for patent law. This essay presents the first empirical test of whether jurors systematically perceive alleged patent ...

Market regulation and productivity: The case of the Canadian Wheat Board

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Changes to regulatory environments influence firm‐level incentives, which can move the productivity frontier or reposition firms within an existing frontier. Estimating causal effects of policy changes requires a credible counterfactual for productivity in the absence of policy change.
