Mid-infrared generation beyond 3.5 µm in a graded-index silica fiber [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2023
We present theoretical as well as experimental evidence of far-detuned nonlinear wavelength conversion towards the mid-infrared, namely beyond 3.5 µm, in a few-mode graded-index silica fiber pumped at 1.064 µm.

Accelerated nonlinear interactions in graded-index multimode fibers [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
AbstractMultimode optical fibers have recently reemerged as a viable platform for addressing a number of long-standing issues associated with information bandwidth requirements and power-handling capabilities. As shown in recent studies, the complex nature of such heavily multimoded systems can be effectively exploited to observe altogether novel ...

Refractive index measurements of ethanol-water binary liquid solutions using a graded-index fiber tip sensor [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2023
The refractometric analysis of ethanol-water mixtures is hampered because this type of binary solution does not present a linear behaviour. In this work it is proposed a multimode Graded-Index Fiber (GIF) tip sensor for the measurement of ethanol in ...

Multimode soliton collisions in graded-index optical fibers

open access: yesOptics Express, 2022
In this work, we unveil the unique complex dynamics of multimode soliton interactions in graded-index optical fibers through simulations and experiments. By generating two multimode solitons from the fission of an input femtosecond pulse, we examine the evolution of their Raman-induced red-shift when the input pulse energy grows larger.

Two octave supercontinuum generation in a non-silica graded-index multimode fiber

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Two-octave supercontinuum generation in the femtosecond regime from the visible to mid-infrared and self-cleaning dynamics are reported in a non-silica graded-index multimode fiber with nanostructured design and enhanced nonlinearity.

Pure Passive Fiber Enabled Highly Efficient Raman Fiber Amplifier With Record Kilowatt Power

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Kilowatt-level high-efficiency all-fiberized Raman fiber amplifier based on pure passive fiber is proposed for the first time in this paper. The laser system is established on master oscillator power amplification configuration, while a piece of graded ...

Single-Mode Input Fiber Combined with Multimode Sensing Fiber Used in Brillouin Optical Time-Domain Reflectometry

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
Conventional single-mode fiber (SMF) Brillouin optical time-domain reflectometry (BOTDR) suffers from a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and severe sensing reliability due to the influence of the stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold and bend loss. In

Theoretical Analysis of Heat Distribution in Raman Fiber Lasers and Amplifiers Employing Pure Passive Fiber

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
In this paper, we study the thermal dissipation of Raman fiber laser and amplifier utilizing pure passive fiber as gain medium for the first time. Take into account the convective and conductive heat transferring process in the fiber, we consider the ...

External-fiber-grating vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A Bragg grating in graded-index multimode fiber was coupled to a 0.8-/spl mu/m VCSEL. By using a fiber Bragg grating, the spectral width of the VCSEL decreased to 1/2-1/3 of the initial value, depending on the temperature of the fiber Bragg grating.
