TECHNOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF MANUFACTURING SILICA OPTICAL FIBERS WITH LARGE CENTRAL DEFECT OF GRADED REFRACTIVE INDEX PROFILE FOR FIBER OPTIC SENSORS BASED ON FEW-MODE EFFECTS [PDF]

open access: yesНаучно-технический вестник информационных технологий, механики и оптики, 2017
The paper deals with results of the study on the main technological aspects relating to a full production cycle of silica multimode graded-index fibers with the refractive index profile having central defect in the form of a large dip.

Observation of walk-off Solitons in Step-index and Graded-index Multimode Fibers

open access: yes, 2022
We observe a new type of walk-off soliton propagating in multimode step-index and in graded-index fibers. Pulse initial duration and energy only depend on the input wavelength, and it evolves into a fundamental mode ...

Spatiotemporal Instability of Femtosecond Pulses in Graded-Index Multimode Fibers [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2017
We study the spatiotemporal instability generated by a universal unstable attractor in normal dispersion graded-index multimode fiber for femtosecond pulses for the first time. Experimentally observed spatiotemporal instability sidebands are 91-THz detuned from the pump wavelength of 800 nm.

Graded-index solitons in multimode fibers

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2018
We investigate stability of optical solitons in graded-index (GRIN) fibers by solving an effective nonlinear Schrödinger equation that includes spatial self-imaging effects through a length-dependent nonlinear parameter. We show that this equation can be reduced to the standard NLS equation for optical pulses whose dispersion length is much longer than

Femtosecond Soliton Erbium-Doped Fiber Laser With a Symmetrical GIMF–SIMF–GIMF Saturable Absorber

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
A femtosecond soliton erbium-doped fiber ring laser with the symmetrical saturable absorber (SA) of graded index multimode fiber-step index multimode fiber-graded index multimode fiber (GIMF-SIMF-GIMF) is proposed and proved.

Strain and temperature sensors using multimode optical fiber Bragg gratings and correlation signal processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Multimode fiber optic Bragg grating sensors for strain and temperature measurements using correlation signal processing methods have been developed. Two multimode Bragg grating sensors were fabricated in 62/125 m graded-index silica multimode fiber ...

Optical solitons in graded-index multimode fibres [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2013
Solitons are non-dispersing localized waves that occur in diverse physical settings. A variety of optical solitons have been observed, but versions that involve both spatial and temporal degrees of freedom are rare. Optical fibers designed to support multiple transverse modes offer opportunities to study wave propagation in a setting that is ...

Spatiotemporal beam self-cleaning for high-resolution nonlinear fluorescence imaging with multimode fiber

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Beam self-cleaning (BSC) in graded-index (GRIN) multimode fibers (MMFs) has been recently reported by different research groups. Driven by the interplay between Kerr effect and beam self-imaging, BSC counteracts random mode coupling, and forces laser ...

On spatial beam self-cleaning from the perspective of optical wave thermalization in multimode graded-index fibers

open access: yesAdvances in Physics: X, 2023
The input power-induced transformation of the transverse intensity profile at the output of graded-index multimode optical fibers from speckles into a bell-shaped beam sitting on a low intensity background is known as spatial beam self-cleaning.

New Silica Laser-Optimized Multimode Optical Fibers with Extremely Enlarged 100-μm Core Diameter for Gigabit Onboard and Industrial Networks

open access: yesFibers, 2020
We present new type of silica graded index laser-optimized multimode optical fibers (LOMF) with extremely enlarged core diameter up to 100 μm and “typical” “telecommunication” cladding diameter 125 μm. This optical fiber
