Generalized Fiducial Inference for Logistic Graded Response Models

Psychometrika, 2017
Samejima’s graded response model (GRM) has gained popularity in the analyses of ordinal response data in psychological, educational, and health-related assessment. Obtaining high-quality point and interval estimates for GRM parameters attracts a great deal of attention in the literature.

The Polychotomous Rasch Model and Dichotomizatipn of Graded Responses

1984
Abstract This oaner discusses the compatibility of the polychotomous Rasch model with dichotomization of the response continuum. It is argued that in the case of graded responses, the response categories presented to the subject are essentially an arbitrary oo-lychotomization of the response continuum, ranging e.g.

Graded Response Model

1997
The graded response model represents a family of mathematical models that deals with ordered polytomous categories. These ordered categories include rating such as letter grading, A, B, C, D, and F, used in the evaluation of students’ performance; strongly disagree, disagree, agree, and strongly agree, used in attitude surveys; or partial credit given ...

A graded response model for measuring person reliability

British Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, 2009
This paper extends Lumsden's fluctuation model to the graded response case and, from the resulting basic scaling model, develops a one‐dimensional item response theory graded response model (GRM). Under some additional assumptions, it follows that the item category response functions (ICRFs) can be closely approximated by the ICRFs of the standard GRM ...

The Graded Response Differential Discrimination Model Accounting for Extreme Response Style

Multivariate Behavioral Research, 2017
Extreme response style or, more generally, individual differences in response spacing have been shown to be an influential bias when analyzing questionnaire data. Recently a promising model adjusting for this bias - the differential discrimination model - has been proposed.

Modeling of Impact Response of Composite Graded Structure

Volume 8: Mechanics of Solids, Structures and Fluids; Vibration, Acoustics and Wave Propagation, 2011
The work presented in this paper is a continuation of a study on exploring energy absorbing characteristics of a composite functionally graded structure found in a banana peel [1]. The impact behavior of peel structure under strain rates ranging from 4000 s−1 to 15000s−1 are studied.

Graded Responses and Joining Categories: A Rejoinder to Andrich' “Models For Measurement, Precision, and Nondichotomization of Graded Responses”

Psychometrika, 1995
Andrich (1995) claims that the “probability distribution [of graded responses] reflects the precision with which the data are collected” (p. 7), and that an “increase in precision of responses [ . . . ] destroys the joining assumption” (p. 22). He stressed “that Jansen and Roskam simply asserted this equivalence [of the joining assumption and ξ ...

The Influence of Multidimensionality on the Graded Response Model

Applied Psychological Measurement, 1994
Most item response theory models assume a uni-dimensional latent space. This study extended previous work on the effects of dimensionality on parameter estimation for dichotomous models to the polytomous graded response model. A multidimensional graded response model was developed to generate data in one, two, and three dimensions.

Discrete Hopfield model with graded response (analysis and applications)

1990 IJCNN International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, 1990
The author describes a discrete Hopfield model of neural networks consisting of neurons with graded response and investigates its basic properties. Detailed conditions for stability and convergence to local minima are considered. The results obtained can be easily applied in optimization.

Models for Measurement, Precision, and the Nondichotomization of Graded Responses

Psychometrika, 1995
It is common in educational, psychological, and social measurement in general, to collect data in the form of graded responses and then to combine adjacent categories. It has been argued that because the division of the continuum into categories is arbitrary, any model used for analyzing graded responses should accommodate such action.
