The conjugate gradient method

Numerische Mathematik, 1963
The CG-algorithm is an iterative method to solve linear systems $$Ax + b = 0$$ (1) where A is a symmetric and positive definite coefficient matrix of order n. The method has been described first by Stiefel and Hesteness [1, 2] and additional information is contained in [3] and [4]. The notations used here coincide partially with those used in

The Gradient Method

2017
The gradient method belongs to the direct optimization methods , characterized by the fact that the extreme is found without any prior indication of the necessary existence conditions. Several results which refer to the first order approximation of the gradient method are presented in this chapter. The complexity of the treatment is gradually increased,

Independent gradient model based on Hirshfeld partition: A new method for visual study of interactions in chemical systems

Journal of Computational Chemistry, 2021
The powerful independent gradient model (IGM) method has been increasingly popular in visual analysis of intramolecular and intermolecular interactions in recent years.

Gradient methods for superresolution

Proceedings of International Conference on Image Processing, 2002
Conjugate gradient methods for superresolution are shown to accelerate convergence to the solution. The ill-posed nature of superresolution, combined with the fast convergence of the conjugate gradient algorithm, results in oscillatory artifacts or "null objects" which must be dealt with by regularization.

Conjugate gradient method

WIREs Computational Statistics, 2001
AbstractThe conjugate gradient (CG) method for optimization and equation solving is described, along with three principal families of algorithms derived from it. In each case, a foundational CG algorithm is formulated mathematically and followed by a brief discussion of refinements and variants within its family.
