Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Image representation and reconstruction by compositing Gaussian ellipses

open access: yesIET Image Processing
In this paper, a method of stroke‐based rendering is proposed for image representation and reconstruction. The proposed method involves compositing a set of ellipses that greatly vary in location, size, rotation angle, color, and opacity.

Efficient multi-sensor path scheduling for cooperative target tracking

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
This study deals with path scheduling problem of cooperative target tracking by multiple sensors with bearings only measurements. First, the authors derive a closed-form expression of the determinant (D-optimality criterion) of the Fisher information ...

Randomised block-coordinate Frank-Wolfe algorithm for distributed online learning over networks

open access: yesCognitive Computation and Systems, 2020
The distributed online algorithms which are based on the Frank-Wolfe method can effectively deal with constrained optimisation problems. However, the calculation of the full (sub)gradient vector in those algorithms leads to a huge computational cost at ...

A no‐reference blurred colourful image quality assessment method based on dual maximum local information

open access: yesIET Signal Processing, 2021
Images can be blurred due to the imperfection of the imaging system and blurriness is one of the challenging problems for image quality assessment (IQA). No‐reference blurred IQA methods have been proposed in the literature to calculate image blurriness.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.
