Plastic axial gradient-index lens
Applied Optics, 1985An axial gradient-index (GRIN) lens, where the refractive index varies along the optical axis of a convex lens, can reduce the spherical aberration compared with the conventional homogeneous lens. The transparent plastic axial GRIN material was successfully fabricated by chemical copolymerization and diffusion techniques.

Despite their partially distinctive neural substrates, in typical adults language and emotion function together as well-integrated communicative systems. Both patient and neuroimaging research has furthered our knowledge of the brain organization underlying language and emotion, yet we know little about how this organization develops.

Mechanism-Based Strain Gradient Crystal Plasticity
MRS Proceedings, 2004AbstractTo model size dependent plastic deformation at micron and submicron length scales the theory of mechanism-based strain gradient plasticity (MSG) was developed. The MSG approach incorporates the concept of geometrically necessary dislocations into continuum plastic constitutive laws via Taylor hardening relation. This concept is extended here to

Equivalent plastic strain gradient crystal plasticity – Enhanced power law subroutine
GAMM-Mitteilungen, 2013AbstractA gradient crystal plasticity theory is presented including a defect energy based on the gradient of an equivalent plastic strain measure. Preserving the single crystal slip kinematics, the gradient hardening contribution models dislocation long range interactions adding a back‐stress term to the flow rule, similar to other gradient crystal ...

Strain gradients in plasticity
Acta Mechanica, 1977An analytical model of a plastically deforming solid is assumed to be a material where the second spatial gradients of strain are included in the constitutive equations. These constitutive equations are combined, in a one dimensional shearing problem, with the second law of thermodynamics and condition of thermodynamic stability. The results are that a

Energetic approach to gradient plasticity
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 2010AbstractWe formulate a problem of the evolution of elasto‐plastic materials subjected to external loads in the framework of large deformations and multiplicative plasticity. Our model includes gradients of the plastic strain and of hardening variables. We prove the existence of the so‐called energetic solution.
