On gradients and texture "gradients."
Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, 1984Texture gradients, systematic variations in image texture due to perspective projection of surface texture, provide information about the shape and disposition of surfaces relative to a viewer. Although this three-dimensional information is usually described in terms of mathematical relationships involving gradients of image properties (Cutting ...

We propose a method that uses bootstraping to classify the pixles in the two halves of a sliding window, assuming that if there is a real image boundary separating the two halves, the pixels in the two halves will be classified in two separate classes. The accuracy of the classification is used as a local "gradient".

Exploring Simple Siamese Representation Learning
Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2020Siamese networks have become a common structure in various recent models for unsupervised visual representation learning. These models maximize the similarity between two augmentations of one image, subject to certain conditions for avoiding collapsing ...

Sparse signal approximations have become a fundamental tool in signal processing with wide-ranging applications from source separation to signal acquisition. The ever-growing number of possible applications and, in particular, the ever-increasing problem sizes now addressed lead to new challenges in terms of computational strategies and the development

YOLOv9: Learning What You Want to Learn Using Programmable Gradient Information
European Conference on Computer VisionToday's deep learning methods focus on how to design the most appropriate objective functions so that the prediction results of the model can be closest to the ground truth. Meanwhile, an appropriate architecture that can facilitate acquisition of enough

Let \(S^{n-1}=\{g\in\mathbb{R}^ n: \| g\|=1\}\) be the Euclidean sphere in \(\mathbb{R}^ n\). Let \(H:=(L^ 2(S^{n- 1},\lambda),\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle)\) be the Hilbert space of square- integrable functions on \(S^{n-1}\) with respect to the Lebesgue measure \(\lambda\) in which the inner product is canonically given.

A Robust Privacy-Preserving Federated Learning Model Against Model Poisoning Attacks
IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and SecurityAlthough federated learning offers a level of privacy by aggregating user data without direct access, it remains inherently vulnerable to various attacks, including poisoning attacks where malicious actors submit gradients that reduce model accuracy.

Surface-chemical and -morphological gradients can be extremely useful in cell-biological research as high-throughput screening tools-for example, exposing a given set of cells to many different surface conditions at once, under identical ambient conditions, in order to monitor cell behavior such as proliferation or specific gene expression.
