Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

Perceived factors influencing students to drop out of a post-graduate programme

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Journal of Education Research
Some post-graduate students of Agricultural Education enrolled in Master's degree programmes in Eswatini do not graduate. Unfortunately, no study has been conducted on the factors contributing to the dropout rates among these graduate students. Therefore,

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Dynamics of HBsAb persistence and associated BCR IgG-H CDR3 repertoire features in ultra-high versus extremely low responders to HBV vaccination

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
ObjectiveThis study aimed to investigate the duration of hepatitis B surface antibody (HBsAb) level maintenance and characterize the corresponding IgG-H CDR3 repertoire in volunteers exhibiting either ultra-high or extremely low HBsAb levels following ...

Academics Alone Together: Liberal Arts Graduate Students’ Writing Networks

open access: yesJournal of Teaching and Learning, 2018
Graduate writers who develop networks of writing are positioned to enter into the larger discourse community during and after graduate work. Our study surveyed graduate writers in the humanities about the sources of writing feedback they use and how much

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Decreased cold‐sensing function of the transient receptor potential channel TRPM8 from tailed amphibians

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.
