Patency of the Viabahn stent graft for the treatment of outflow stenosis in hemodialysis grafts
American Journal of Surgery, 2016To evaluate arteriovenous graft patency when failing grafts are treated with Viabahn covered stents vs percutaneous angioplasty (PTA) alone.A retrospective review of all patients that underwent endovascular interventions for failing grafts at a single institution between January 2010 and July 2013 was performed.

Digital tools to facilitate intraoperative coronary artery bypass graft patency assessment
Intraoperative graft failure is an important cause of cardiac mortality and morbidity. Hence, verification of graft patency should be one of the most important aspects of coronary artery bypass grafting. Although several techniques have been advocated to

Impact of angioscopy on infrainguinal graft patency
The American Journal of Surgery, 1994To investigate the impact of angioscopy on infrainguinal graft patency, 50 consecutive cases with angioscopy as an adjuvant to infrainguinal arterial bypass performed during a 12-month period were reviewed (group I). For comparison, 42 similar cases of infrainguinal arterial reconstruction performed during the 12 months prior to introduction of routine

Graft Patency in Coronary Bypass Surgery
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1978A total of 514 vein bypass grafts and 49 internal mammary (IMA) grafts in 328 patients were studied after operation. Forty-two vein bypass grafts were performed without the use of a pump oxygenator, with a patency rate of 52%. When a pump oxygenator was used, the patency rate for vein bypass grafts was 78%. Patency rates for IMA grafts were 70% and 86%,

Reduced patency in left-sided arteriovenous grafts
Journal of Vascular Surgery, 2020For decades, arteriovenous access grafts for hemodialysis have been saddled with poor long-term utility and few clinical predictors of success. Traditionally, sidedness of access creation has been based on extremity dominance, ignoring any possible contribution of laterality to patency.

Patency in Arteriovenous Grafts in Hemodialysis Patients
Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, 2013Objective: It is difficult to maintain a working access for patients on hemodialysis. Despite current Dialysis Outcome Quality Initiatives recommendations of “Fistula First,” not everyone qualifies for a fistula, and those patients undergoing the alternative treatment, a graft, can experience graft failure. This

The Graft Imaging to Improve Patency (GRIIP) clinical trial results [PDF]
ObjectiveThis trial aimed to determine whether intraoperative graft assessment with criteria for graft revision would decrease the proportion of patients with 1 or more graft occlusions or stenoses or major adverse cardiac events 1 year after coronary ...

Stent-Grafts Improve Secondary Patency of Failing Hemodialysis Grafts
The Journal of Vascular Access, 2011Purpose Failing hemodialysis grafts continue to pose a challenge in the care of patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). We review our experience using percutaneous stent-grafts for the treatment of venous outflow stenosis and occlusion in order to assess their efficacy in nonautologous graft salvage.

Effect of carvedilol on arteriovenous graft primary patency
Vascular, 2020Background The major mechanisms of arteriovenous graft (AVG) failure due to intimal hyperplasia (IH) are smooth muscle cell proliferation and inflammation. Therefore, carvedilol may improve AVG primary patency because of its anti-proliferative and anti-inflammatory activities.
