Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Preparation of Comb-Shaped Polyether with PDMS and PEG Side Chains and Its Application in Polymer Electrolytes

open access: yesMolecules
Polyethylene oxide (PEO) is the most well-studied polymer used in solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) for lithium ion batteries (Li-ion batteries). However, ionic conductivity is greatly reduced in the low temperature range due to the crystallization of ...

Evaluation of the combating against chestnut blight (Cryphonectria parasitica) in terms of silviculture: The sample of Kütahya Simav

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Forestry, 2017
The objective of this study was to determine the factors causing the deterioration of the stand structures of chestnut forests in Kütahya-Simav  and to reveal the relation between these factors and chestnut diseases.

On the Helix-Coil transition in grafted chains

open access: yes, 1999
The helix-coil transition is modified by grafting to a surface. This modification is studied for short peptides capable of forming $\alpha$-helices.

Pioglitazone plus (−)‐epigallocatechin gallate: a novel approach to enhance osteogenic performance in aged bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Aged human bmMSCs are seeded in the scaffold. Osteoblastic induction can slightly increase cell's bone‐forming activity to produce bone‐like tissues, shown as the sporadic xylenol orange‐stained spots (the lower left image). Notably, pioglitazone plus EGCG co‐treatment dramatically increases cell's bone‐forming activity and bone‐like tissue production (

Comparisons of Anatomical Characteristics and Transcriptomic Differences between Heterografts and Homografts in Pyrus L.

open access: yesPlants, 2022
Pear (Pyrus L.) is an important temperate fruit worldwide, and grafting is widely used in pear vegetative propagation. However, the mechanisms of graft healing or incompatibility remain poorly understood in Pyrus.

Transplantation stimulates interstitial cell migration in hydra [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Migration of interstitial cells and nerve cell precursors was analyzed in Hydra magnipapillata and Hydra vulgaris (formerly Hydra attenuata). Axial grafts were made between [3H]thymidine-labeled donor and unlabeled host tissue. Migration of labeled cells

The role of plant hormones during grafting

open access: yesJournal of plant research, 2017
For millennia, people have cut and joined different plant tissues together through a process known as grafting. By creating a chimeric organism, desirable properties from two plants combine to enhance disease resistance, abiotic stress tolerance, vigour ...

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.
