Standardized Test Methods for Grains and Grain-Based Products

2016
Analytic results are needed for the effective management of grain production and processing in grains and related foods. The standard methods have been developed through collaboration between scientists as members of learned societies, eventually for formal approval via the societies' validation procedures.

The Composition of Food Grains and Grain-Based Products

2016
The Grain Composition Appendix is introduced as a source of information about the nutrients, minerals and vitamins in the full range of grain species, their mill products and the foods made from them. There is a need to realize that each single-figure value in the data set is only a nominal value; a range of values around this would be obtained if ...

Production of grain molasses

Irradiation of cereal grains and cereal grain products

C R C Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition, 1975
The application of ionizing radiation as a food processing method has been shown to be effective in controlling food losses due to insects and microorganisms. Low doses of radiation are effective in controlling insects in all stages of development. Radiation, however, can affect the chemical composition and nutritional quality if applied in dosages ...

CHEMICALS FOR GRAIN PRODUCTION AND PROTECTION

2004
Most modern agriculture depends on a range of chemical products to ensure that production is economic and sustainable. The chemicals may be broadly classified as fertilizers and biocides. Fertilizers include major and minor plant nutrients and trace elements.

Analysis of grain and grain products by the SRXFA technique

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1989
Abstract The results on identification of microelements from Ca to Sb in cereals and their products, which were obtained by means of the X-ray fluorescence analysis (XFA) technique using synchrotron radiation from the VEPP-3 storage ring, are presented. The sensitivity of the technique for the given samples exceeded 0.1 ppm at Sr=0.25.

Grain Production and Consumption: Africa

2004
In 2012, Africa produced ∼ 172 million tons (Mt) of cereals, ∼ 16 Mt of pulses, and ∼ 16 Mt of oilseeds. Quantitatively, the most important are maize, cowpeas and common beans, and peanuts. Africa's population is increasing at ∼ 2.5% per year and there is rapid urbanization.

On the production of suprathermal grains

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1980
The physical conditions under which suprathermal grains can be produced when they are accelerated by radiation pressure against the drag of ambient gas are investigated. It is found that dust grains may attain a terminal velocityU (=105 cm s−1) in most regions and move out of the midplane of the source region about a distance |z|≤100 pc.
