Parameter Variation in Planetary Ball Milling of Titanium Aluminide Powder in XHV‐Adequate Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the effects of milling parameters, including rotational speed, milling duration, and ball‐to‐powder ratio, on TiAl particle size and morphology in an XHV‐equivalent atmosphere. The creation of oxide‐free surfaces enhances the mechanical properties of green bodies.

Grain refinement in beta-solidifying Ti44Al8Nb1B

open access: yes, 2012
Grain refinement in Ti44Al8Nb1B was studied using directional solidification technique and SEM EBSD analysis. Grain refinement occurred during beta-to-alpha transformation through boride assisted alpha nucleation mechanism rather than during ...

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

The influence of alloying elements in aluminium on the grain refinement with ALTI5B1 [PDF]

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2009
This work deals with the influence of alloying elements in aluminium on the grain refinement with various additions of AlTi5B1. Grain-refinement tests were made at a cooling rate of 15 °C/s.

On the grain refinement of aluminum alloys

open access: yes, 2016
Aluminum grain refinement has been widely used by aluminum alloy manufacturers more than 60 years. It primarily consists of adding aluminum master alloys to pure aluminum or aluminum alloy melts.
