Grain‐Size Determinations

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1981
This study compares the grain sizes of dense, equiaxed gadolinia (Gd 2 O 3 ) specimens as determined by light microscope/polished surface and by scanning electron microscope/fracture surface techniques.

Grain size statistics

Journal of Materials Science, 1981
A method for the computation of spatial grain size distributions from intercept data based on a tetrakaidecahedron grain model is developed. The necessary inverse matrix is presented. The method is applied to a range of metallic and ceramic specimens. The derived distributions are analysed to show that they are not necessarily log-normal.
