Effect of Grain Size Distribution on Recrystallisation Kinetics in an Fe-30Ni Model Alloy

open access: yesMetals, 2019
This paper discusses the role of grain size distribution on the recrystallisation rates and Avrami values for a Fe-30 wt. % Ni steel, which was used as a model alloy retaining an austenitic structure to room temperature.

Natural Killer Cells in Paediatric Soft Tissue Sarcomas: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Paediatric soft tissue sarcomas (pSTS) are a rare and heterogeneous group of malignant tumours arising in tissues of mesenchymal origin. The role of natural killer (NK) cells in pSTS remains poorly understood, with evidence fragmented across small preclinical studies and early‐phase clinical trials.

Proximal to distal grain‐size distribution of basin‐floor lobes: A study from the Battfjellet Formation, Central Tertiary Basin, Svalbard

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, 2022
The grain‐size distribution of sediment particles is an important aspect of the architecture of submarine fans and lobes. It governs depositional sand quality and reflects distribution of particulate organic carbon and pollutants.

Numerical investigation of the influence of mineral mesostructure on quasi-static compressive behaviors of granite using a breakable grain-based model

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2023
The mesostructure of brittle rocks, such as granite, plays a vital role in determining their mechanical properties and failure mode. Understanding the influence of rock mesostructure on mechanical behavior requires a realistic representation of grain ...

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

A prediction model for austenite grain size distribution of casting slab in thermal rebound process: Considering α-ferrite precipitation and re-austenization

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The precipitation and re-austenitization behavior of α-ferrite during thermal rebound process of casting slab are crucial to the austenite grain size distribution. Accurately obtaining austenite grain size distribution plays an important guiding role for

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Grain Growth Behavior of Alumina in Zirconia-Toughened Alumina (ZTA) Ceramics During Pressureless Sintering

open access: yesCrystals
The primary grain size, sintering conditions, and admixtures have a significant impact on the grain growth of alumina ceramics. Three kinds of alumina powders with varying grain sizes and zirconia nanoparticles were selected and configured into five ...

Optimizing the grain size distribution for talc-magnesite ore flotation [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2001
Flotation is the only separation method with an universal utilization. Along with the separation of particulate valuable or hazardous components from primary and seconadry mineral raw materials, it is of usage in biotechnologies and water cleaning.

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.
