Canopy Temperature and Vegetation Indices from High-Throughput Phenotyping Improve Accuracy of Pedigree and Genomic Selection for Grain Yield in Wheat

open access: yesG3: Genes, Genomes, Genetics, 2016
Genomic selection can be applied prior to phenotyping, enabling shorter breeding cycles and greater rates of genetic gain relative to phenotypic selection.

Rotational disruption of dust grains by mechanical torques for high-velocity gas-grain collisions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Dust grains moving at hypersonic velocities of $v_{d}\gtrsim 100\rm km~s^{-1}$ through an ambient gas are known to be destroyed by nonthermal sputtering. Yet, previous studies of nonthermal sputtering disregarded the fact that dust grains can be spun-up to suprathermal rotation by stochastic mechanical torques from gas-grain collisions.

Coarse-graining schemes and a posteriori error estimates for stochastic lattice systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
The primary objective of this work is to develop coarse-graining schemes for stochastic many-body microscopic models and quantify their effectiveness in terms of a priori and a posteriori error analysis. In this paper we focus on stochastic lattice systems of interacting particles at equilibrium. %such as Ising-type models.

The Role of Spike Photosynthesis and Foliar Application of IAA on Grain Yield and its Components of Two Wheat Cultivars in Late Season Drought Stress [PDF]

open access: yesIkufīziyuluzhī-i Giyāhān-i Zirā̒ī, 2015
Drought stress is a major cause of reduction in crop production. According to the role of various plant parts, especially the spike photosynthesis in grain filling and the regulatory roles of IAA in formation of grain yield, a split plot-factorial ...

Torques on Spheroidal Silicate Grains Exposed to Anisotropic Interstellar Radiation Fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Radiative torques, due to the absorption and scattering of starlight, are thought to play a major role in the alignment of grains with the interstellar magnetic field. The absorption of radiation also gives rise to recoil torques, associated with the photoelectric effect and photodesorption.

Response of Wheat Genotypes to Terminal Drought Stress Using Physiological Indices

open access: yesTulīd va Farāvarī-i Maḥṣūlāt-i Zirā̒ī va Bāghī, 2013
In order to study the effect of terminal drought stress on yield and yield components and some physiological traits of wheat genotypes, a field experiment was conducted at the Research Farm of Agricultural College of Shiraz University during 2010-11 ...
