A Novel Approach to Produce Metal–Metal Composites by Leveraging Immiscibility: Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Nanosilver‐Dispersed Titanium

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Incorporating nanosized silver into titanium for antimicrobial materials exploits the metastable miscibility gap between silver and titanium. Silver nanoparticles are synthesized via pulsed laser ablation in liquid. Silver addition refines the microstructure, increases hardness by 30%, and reduces Staphylococcus capitis microbial adhesion by 70%, with ...

Relationship among grain yield and its component traits in sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) germplasm accessions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2019
The field experiment was carried out by using 101 germplasm accessions along with seven checks during Kharif 2018 in augmented design II to evaluate the association among grain yield and its component traits into direct and indirect effects of traits on

Study of yield components under heat stress conditions in wheat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
High temperature tolerance can be characterised by measuring various plant productivity traits in different developmental stages. The present work investigated the effect of exposure to high temperature (30-35°C) at first node appearance, during ...

Maillard Type Reaction for Electroless Copper Plating onto Ceramic Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the manufacturing of copper‐plated ceramic nanoparticles in an environmentally friendly way. Supported by organic functionalizations with pectin an electroless plating step can be performed. Sustainable reagents like xylose, and several amino acids are used for the reduction process.

Response of Maize (Zea mays L.) Grain Yield and Yield Components to Irrigation and Nitrogen Fertilization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Central European Agriculture, 2017
Grain yield of maize is mostly affected by amount of available water and nitrogen and correlated to yield components. In this 2-years study the influence of different irrigation water amounts (a1=rainfed; a2=60-100% field water capacity (FWC); a3=80-100%

Correlations of yield and grain yield components of winter wheat varieties

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences, Belgrade, 2009
Mean positive correlation (r = 0,47**) between grain yield and number of plants per m? and strong correlation between grain yield and number of spikes per m? were established (r = 0,55**). Weak correlation was established between grain yield and productive tillering (r = 0,24**).

Do no-till and pig slurry application improve barley yield and water and nitrogen use efficiencies in rainfed Mediterranean conditions? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Tillage and N fertilization strategies including mineral and organic sources need to be studied in combination given their importance on the production cost that farmers face and their potential interaction on crop performance.

Non‐Destructive and Mechanical Characterization of the Bond Quality of Co‐Extruded Titanium‐Aluminum Profiles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the bond quality of co‐extruded aluminum–titanium hybrid profiles, focusing on the lateral angular co‐extrusion (LACE) process. It examines how heat treatments (HT) affect intermetallic phase formation, bond strength, and material properties.

Development of a Novel Processing Route for Dispersoid/Precipitation‐Strengthened High Conductive Copper Alloys by Using Metalized Nanoceramics in Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores a process chain to produce dispersoid‐strengthened CuCr1Zr for applications requiring high strength and conductivity. Using gas‐atomized powder and copper‐plated alumina nanoparticles, additive manufacturing is performed via powder bed based additive manufacturing with green and red lasers, followed by heat treatment.
