Non-circular motion estimation of the grand-design spiral galaxy NGC 628

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2013
I present a harmonic decomposition analysis of the grand-design spiral galaxy NGC 628 using the H I data from The H I Nearby Galaxy Survey (THINGS), Walter et al., Astron. J. 136, 2563 (2008). The harmonic decomposition analysis allows the estimation of the peculiar motion magnitude of the galaxy not counted in the rotation of the disk.

Evidence for small halos in grand design spiral galaxies

open access: closedThe Astrophysical Journal, 1990

On the relative frequency of flocculent and grand design spiral structures in barred galaxies

open access: closedThe Astrophysical Journal, 1989
The bars in late-type spiral galaxies (SBbc to SBm and SABbc to SABm) show little correlation with grand design spiral structure, unlike the bars in early-type galaxies. This is further evidence for two different types of bars in the SB morphological class, and two different types of ovals in the SAB class.

Blue and near-infrared surface photometry of spiral structure in 34 nonbarred grand design and flocculent galaxies

open access: closedThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 1984

The TYPHOON Stellar Population Synthesis Survey. II. Pushing Full Spectral Fitting to the Limit in the Nearby Grand Design Barred Spiral M83

Astrophysical Journal
We apply population synthesis techniques to analyze TYPHOON long slit spectra of the starburst barred spiral galaxy M83. The analysis covers a central square of 5′ side length.

A PAH deficit in the starburst core of a distant spiral galaxy

Monthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society
We present high-resolution and spatially-matched observations with JWST and ALMA of a starburst galaxy (PACS-830) at z = 1.46. The NIRCam observations mainly trace the stellar light while the CO (J=5–4) observations map the dense molecular gas at kpc ...

Gravitational instability and spatial regularity of the gas clouds and young stellar population in spiral arms of NGC 628

Astronomy & Astrophysics
There is a clear contradiction between the characteristic spacings in observed regular chains of star-forming regions in the spiral arms of galaxies (∼500 pc) and the estimates of the wavelength of gravitational instability in them ($>1$ kpc).
