Giant molecular clouds in the non-grand design spiral galaxy NGC 6946 [PDF]
We present high spatial resolution observations of Giant Molecular Clouds (GMCs) in the eastern part of the nearby spiral galaxy NGC 6946 obtained with the Combined Array for Research in Millimeter-wave Astronomy (CARMA). We have observed 12CO(1-0), 12CO(

Analyzing the cosmic architecture in the vicinity of Grand-design and Flocculent spiral galaxies with Local Geometric Index [PDF]
We explore the environment of 351 grand-design and 541 flocculent spiral galaxies recently identified employing convolutional neural networks from the $17^{th}$ data release of Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We introduce a novel estimator called the Local Geometric Index to quantify the morphology of the local environment of these 892 spirals.

A panchromatic spatially resolved analysis of nearby galaxies – I. Sub-kpc-scale main sequence in grand-design spirals [PDF]
ABSTRACT We analyse the spatially resolved relation between stellar mass (M⋆) and star formation rate (SFR) in disc galaxies (i.e. the main sequence, MS). The studied sample includes eight nearby face-on grand-design spirals, e.g. the descendant of high-redshift, rotationally supported star-forming galaxies.

A New Statistical Analysis of the Morphology of Spiral Galaxies [PDF]
Morphology is the starting point for understanding galaxies. Elmegreen et al. classified spiral galaxies into flocculent, multiple-arm, and grand-design galaxies based on the regularity of their spiral arm structure.

Spiral arm classifications were made for 261 low-inclination galaxies in groups listed by Huchra and Geller. The fractional occurrence of grand design spiral structure in nonbarred galaxies was found to increase from approx.0.1 to approx.0.6 and then level off as the group crossing rate or galaxy collision rate in a group increases.

THE PdBI ARCSECOND WHIRLPOOL SURVEY (PAWS). I. A CLOUD-SCALE/MULTI-WAVELENGTH VIEW OF THE INTERSTELLAR MEDIUM IN A GRAND-DESIGN SPIRAL GALAXY [PDF]
The PdBI (Plateau de Bure Interferometer) Arcsecond Whirlpool Survey (PAWS) has mapped the molecular gas in the central ~9kpc of M51 in its 12CO(1-0) line emission at cloud-scale resolution of ~40pc using both IRAM telescopes. We utilize this dataset to quantitatively characterize the relation of molecular gas (or CO emission) to other tracers of the ...

A grand-design spiral galaxy 1.5 billion years after the Big Bang with JWST [PDF]
We report the discovery of a large ($\sim 10$ kpc diameter), massive ($\log(M_\star/M_\odot) = 10.15^{+0.01}_{-0.01}$), grand-design spiral galaxy with photometric redshift $z_{\text{phot}} = 4.03$ in the UNCOVER and Medium Band Mega Science surveys with JWST. This is the highest redshift spiral galaxy discovered with JWST so far.
