Petrogenesis of Late Paleozoic diorites and A-type granites in the central Eastern Tianshan, NW China: Response to post-collisional extension triggered by slab breakoff

Lithos, 2018
Geological evolution of the Eastern Tianshan in the Late Paleozoic is significant to understanding the multiple accretions and final formation of the southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt. Here, we report new whole-rock geochemical and Sr–Nd isotopic data,

If it shall be demanded, then, when a man begins to have any ideas? I think the true answer is, when he first has any sensation. For since there appear not to be any ideas in the mind before the senses have conveyed any in, I conceive that ideas in the understanding are coeval with sensation. . . .

The geochemistry of the Sorvik granite—a TIB-1 granite

GFF, 2008
The Sorvik granite occurs as rounded massifs in the Revsund granite in central Sweden. The rock is medium-grained with rounded quartz crystals ('drop quartz') and occasional, sometimes albiterimmed megacrysts of K-feldspar. It is a faintly peraluminous 1-type granite with some A-type affinities showing a limited chemical variation.

GRANITES AND GRANITES

1948
There can have been few occasions in the past when the President of the Geological Society of London—the mother of all geological societies—has been able to accept the hospitality of that most splendid of daughters, The Geological Society of America. I come bearing most hearty greetings and good wishes from my Society to yours.

Granites

open access: yes, 2005
Knowledge of the granites of Sumatra has been gathered mainly as the result of systematic mapping programmes conducted with the aim of identifying mineral resources and providing a geological data base for more detailed studies.

On the Form of Granitic Rocks, and the Structure of Granite

Quarterly Journal of the Geological Society of London
[The paper read by M. Von Buch on this occasion involves two subjects, namely, an expression of opinion and a record of observations concerning the structure of granitic masses, affording an explanation of the frequently described phenomenon of stratification in granite, and an account of a journey into Sweden, in which he pursued other investigations ...

Granites

Geology Today, 2023
Granites are coarse‐grained igneous intrusive rocks, which, although present in most tectonic settings, are most characteristic of continental crust. While basalts are the most abundant volcanic rocks, granites are the most abundant intrusive rocks. On the scale of the Solar System, while basalts are ubiquitous, granites seem to be restricted to the ...

Paleoproterozoic I-type granites and their implications for the Yangtze block position in the Columbia supercontinent: Evidence from the Lengshui Complex, South China

, 2015
The early history of the Yangtze Block is not well constrained owing to scarce outcrops of the Archean to Paleoproterozoic rocks. In this paper, we report an integrated study of major and trace element data, SHRIMP and LA–ICP–MS zircon U–Pb age data, and
