ABSTRACT This study shows an innovative approach to determine the origin of some Calabrian rocks quarried used in ancient times. Twenty‐five quarries, distributed in all the Calabrian provinces (Southern Italy), were studied and sampled. Ten samples were taken from each quarry, for a total of 250 samples.

Most Neoproterozoic granitoids in the Kuluketage area, northern Tarim Craton are characterized by strongly depleted HREE abundances and high Sr/Y and (La/Yb) N ratios, showing typical geochemical features of adakitic rocks.

The Ural mobile belt is an intracontinental epioceanic orogen that has already gone through all stages of the geodynamic development. Igneous rocks formed during each stage are important indicators for understanding the evolution of this belt and ...

Key Points 7 μm spot‐diameter LA‐MC‐ICP‐MS analyses yield accurate zircon U‐Pb ages. 1013 Ω amplifier resistors improve low‐signal Pb measurements. Saturn correction protocols minimise down‐hole fractionation effects. We present a systematic evaluation of high spatial‐resolution zircon U‐Pb dating using a Thermo Scientific Neoma multi‐collector ICP‐MS ...

A reactive assimilation model for regional-scale cordierite-bearing granitoids: geochemical evidence from the Late Variscan granites of the Central Iberian Zone, Spain [PDF]
Regional scale biotite and cordierite-bearing granites (s.l.) in the Variscan of the Central Iberian Zone (CIZ) are spatially closely associated with cordierite-rich nebulites and cordierite-bearing two-mica granites, and with cordierite-rich high grade ...

Radiogenic heat production in granitoids from the Sierras de Córdoba, Argentina
One of the most important processes of heat generation from the Earth's interior is the radioactive decay of isotopes. The main hosts of the major radiogenic elements U, Th and K in the crust are granitoids.

Static recrystallization of shocked calcite in Ries impact breccias
Abstract Calcite is prone to chemical and microstructural modifications, especially after having been strained at high stresses and strain rates, as during hypervelocity impact events. These modifications include precipitation from pore fluid as well as replacement of strained volumes by recrystallization. In calcite aggregates of a metagranite breccia
