Rheology of a confined granular material
We study the rheology of a granular material slowly driven in a confined geometry. The motion is characterized by a steady sliding with a resistance force increasing with the driving velocity and the surrounding relative humidity.

Ultrasound Induces Aging in Granular Materials
Aging and rejuvenation have been identified as the general mechanisms that rule the time evolution of granular materials subjected to some external confinement pressure. In creep experiments performed in a triaxial configuration, we obtained evidence that relatively high intensity ultrasound waves propagating through the material induce both weakening ...

Drained Response of Granular Material
Drained triaxial simulations were carried out for three-dimensional (3D) assembly of ellipsoid particles using the discrete element method (DEM). It was found that the overall drained behaviour is dependent on both density state i.e. void ratio (e) and stress state i.e. confining stress (p′) as observed in many laboratory triaxial tests.

Polyurethane polymer-reinforced granular material (PPGM) can be used for ground improvement due to its high strength and drainage capacity. However, in engineering practice, clogging may occur that influence the permeability of PPGM.

Langevin equation approach to granular flows in narrow pipes
The flow of granular material through a rough narrow pipe is described by the Langevin equation formalism. The stochastic force is caused by irregular interaction between the wall and the granular particles.
