But the target for duration of exclusive breastfeeding has not been reached in a significant number of women.

Granulomatous mastitis

Granulomatous mastitis is a rare, benign breast disease that can mimic carcinoma. This report describes the clinical and pathological features of two patients presenting with breast abscesses. Both patients required a drainage procedure for the abscesses before a definite diagnosis could be made.

Painful breast masses, draining sinuses, scarring, and breast atrophy are the main clinical manifestations. IGLM can resemble a variety of other inflammatory and neoplastic processes of the breast.

Granulomatous Lobular Mastitis

In a period of ten years, a total of eight cases of granulomatous lobular mastitis was retrieved from a total number of 614 breast biopsies handled in our laboratory (1.3%). The patients were of childbearing age and had a recent history of delivery or pregnancy.

[Granulomatous mastitis].

Six cases of granulomatous mastitis are reported. Based on a review of the relevant literature, the clinical features, etiology, and management of this pathologic entity are discussed. The definition of granulomatous mastitis is given and the characteristics that distinguish this condition from other inflammatory breast diseases are pointed out.
