Sampling problems in granulometry
2012 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference Proceedings, 2012In granulated materials composition analysis, a proper sample taking is a very important procedure. A sample must represent the granular composition of the whole product. In manufacturing process the transporting belts produce vibrations and jolting, both of which lead to segregation within the product flow.

Multiscale methods which provide a decomposition of an image based on scale have many uses in image analysis. One class of such methods from mathematical morphology is based on size distributions or granulometries. In this paper a different type of image decomposition based on shape but not scale is proposed.

Linking flowability and granulometry of lactose powders
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2015The flowing properties of 10 lactose powders commonly used in pharmaceutical industries have been analyzed with three recently improved measurement methods. The first method is based on the heap shape measurement. This straightforward measurement method provides two physical parameters (angle of repose αr and static cohesive index σr) allowing to make ...

Testing for nematode–granulometry relationships
Marine Biodiversity, 2014The majority of studies have advocated that diversity of marine nematodes increases with increasing sediment grain size, although the opposite trend has also been suggested. The controversy is partially caused by not taking into account the effect of density on patterns of diversity and by analyzing datasets from different environments.

Periodic Lines and their Application to Granulometries
1996In this paper we introduce the notion of periodic lines. In contrast to other types of digital lines such as Bresenham lines, periodic lines can be used to generate a wide range of granulometric functions via structural decomposition.

A Granulometry Based Descriptor for Object Categorization
2013The progress in the area of object recognition in the last decade is impressive. The literature reports new descriptors, new strategies, new ways to combine descriptors and classifiers and new problems in a so fast pace that it is hard to follow the whole area. A recent problem in the area is the fine-grained categorization.

Fast Grayscale Granulometry Algorithms
1994Granulometries constitute an extremely useful set of morphological operators, applicable to a variety of image analysis tasks. Traditional granulometry algorithms involve sequences of openings or closings of increasing size, and are therefore very slow on non-dedicated hardware.

Granulometries and pattern spectra for radar signals
Signal Processing, 2006Granulometries and pattern spectra are morphological tools used to obtain size distributions in images. This paper presents the application of these techniques to radar signals. It uses a new approach which is more appropriate for RF signals than the classical approach. It uses complex openings, closings and power measurements instead of the usual gray-

Granulometry of Mangrove Sediments
2014The grain size analyses of estuarine sediments give an idea of the depositional environment in the estuaries. Values of graphic mean size, median, standard deviation, kurtosis and skewness are determined from the cumulative curves drawn by plotting size values.
