Terahertz Study of Wood Structure as Impacted by Grapevine Trunk Diseases [PDF]

open access: yes2019 44th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), 2019
Grapevine trunk diseases affect grapevines worldwide and dramatically shorten the longevity of vineyards. This study has successfully demonstrated the use of THz time-domain imaging to identify the grapevine wood tissues degraded by the fungi responsible for grapevine trunk diseases.

Current status of grapevine trunk disease pathogens on asymptomatic nursery-produced grapevines in Türkiye

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2023
Good health of grapevine plants is important for productivity and sustainability of newly established vineyards, and accurate detection of bacterial and fungal pathogens is a prerequisite for managing the diseases they cause in nurseries. This study screened marketable, bare-rooted grapevine plants, obtained from different geographical regions of ...

Vegetal residue‐based formulation of Trichoderma ossianense, a new indigenous vineyard species adapted to alkaline pH with potential biocontrol ability against Black‐foot disease pathogens

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
The study identifies Trichoderma ossianense, was can be isolated from grapevine roots, is capable of growing at alkaline pH and controls black‐foot pathogens, highlighting the vegetal residue‐based formulations that preserve its viability. Abstract BACKGROUND Fungi of the Trichoderma genus are used in vineyards as biological control agents mainly ...

Grapevine wood microbiome analysis identifies key fungal pathogens and potential interactions with the bacterial community implicated in grapevine trunk disease appearance

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiome, 2021
Background Grapevine trunk diseases (GTDs) is a disease complex caused by wood pathogenic fungi belonging to genera like Phaeomoniella, Phaeoacremonium, Fomitiporia, Eutypa and members of the family Botryosphaeriaceae. However, the co-occurrence of these

Fungal community survey of Fraxinus excelior in New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The European Ash tree (Fraxinus excelsior) is widely grown throughout Europe. As a large deciduous tree species, it grows a tall, domed crown and has an attractive tree shape, so it is considered as a popular amenity tree species. European Ash is planted

Efficacy evaluation of pneumatic solid set canopy delivery system to control powdery mildew (Erysiphe necator) in Washington vineyards

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
The findings of this study indicate that powdery mildew control achieved with the pneumatic solid set canopy delivery system (PSD‐SSCDS) was comparable with that of a conventional airblast sprayer. These results highlight the PSD‐SSCDS as a promising alternative spray technology. Abstract BACKGROUND In this study, a previously optimized pneumatic spray

Proteomic insights into changes in grapevine wood in response to esca proper and apoplexy

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2014
Among fungal grapevine trunk diseases, esca proper poses a significant threat for viticulture. Apoplexy, mainly occurring on grapevines affected by esca proper, is also a threat.

Evaluation of electrolyzed water to control fungal trunk pathogens in grapevine nurseries

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1740-1751, April 2025.
Electrolyzed water treatments could have promising applications in the grapevine nursery process to prevent or reduce infections caused by fungal trunk pathogens on grapevine propagation material. Abstract BACKGROUND Grapevine producers demand solutions to control fungal trunk pathogens (FTPs) in nurseries.
