Identifiability conditions in cognitive diagnosis: Implications for Q‐matrix estimation algorithms
Abstract The Q‐matrix of a cognitively diagnostic assessment (CDA), documenting the item‐attribute associations, is a key component of any CDA. However, the true Q‐matrix underlying a CDA is never known and must be estimated—typically by content experts.

Bias and precision in true‐score estimation
Abstract We discuss two approaches to estimating the true score from classical test theory, each with a corresponding measure of uncertainty due to measurement error: the classical method with the standard error of measurement (SEM) and Kelley's method with the standard error of estimation (SEE).

Abstract Two classes of probabilistic models are compared: the true and error (TE) type models and models in the family of the basic local independence model (BLIM). The former finds applications in the study of human preference, whereas the latter has been developed within the theory of knowledge structures with the aim of producing knowledge ...

Calibrating Bayesian inference
Abstract Bayesian statistics has gained popularity in psychological research due to its intuitive uncertainty quantification and convenient information‐updating rules. In many applications, however, prior distributions are introduced merely as instruments to facilitate computation, rather than as representations of genuine subjective belief ...
