Quantum information and statistical mechanics: an introduction to frontier [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This is a short review on an interdisciplinary field of quantum information science and statistical mechanics. We first give a pedagogical introduction to the stabilizer formalism, which is an efficient way to describe an important class of quantum ...

Euclidean asymptotic expansions of Green functions of quantum fields (II) Combinatorics of the asymptotic operation

open access: yes, 1996
The results of part I (hep-ph/9612284) are used to obtain full asymptotic expansions of Feynman diagrams renormalized within the MS-scheme in the regimes when some of the masses and external momenta are large with respect to the others. The large momenta

On Characterizing the Data Movement Complexity of Computational DAGs for Parallel Execution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Technology trends are making the cost of data movement increasingly dominant, both in terms of energy and time, over the cost of performing arithmetic operations in computer systems. The fundamental ratio of aggregate data movement bandwidth to the total

Conflict Detection for Edits on Extended Feature Models using Symbolic Graph Transformation

open access: yes, 2016
Feature models are used to specify variability of user-configurable systems as appearing, e.g., in software product lines. Software product lines are supposed to be long-living and, therefore, have to continuously evolve over time to meet ever-changing ...

M. Kontsevich's graph complex and the Grothendieck-Teichmueller Lie algebra [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We show that the zeroth cohomology of M. Kontsevich's graph complex is isomorphic to the Grothendieck-Teichmueller Lie algebra grt_1. The map is explicitly described. This result has applications to deformation quantization and Duflo theory.

Exact two-terminal reliability of some directed networks

open access: yes, 2007
The calculation of network reliability in a probabilistic context has long been an issue of practical and academic importance. Conventional approaches (determination of bounds, sums of disjoint products algorithms, Monte Carlo evaluations, studies of the

Inductive Construction of 2-Connected Graphs for Calculating the Virial Coefficients

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we give a method for constructing systematically all simple 2-connected graphs with n vertices from the set of simple 2-connected graphs with n-1 vertices, by means of two operations: subdivision of an edge and addition of a vertex.

Experimental Analysis and Physics‐Based Analytical Model on Twisted and Coiled Artificial Muscles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Twisted and coiled artificial muscles made from silver‐coated nylon fibers are investigated through experiments and analytical modeling. The actuators achieve contractions up to 19.3% and specific work of 8 kJ kg−1, though efficiency remains limited (≈0.15%) by thermal losses.

Matchgates and classical simulation of quantum circuits

open access: yes, 2008
Let G(A,B) denote the 2-qubit gate which acts as the 1-qubit SU(2) gates A and B in the even and odd parity subspaces respectively, of two qubits. Using a Clifford algebra formalism we show that arbitrary uniform families of circuits of these gates ...

Recent Advancements in Bulk Processing of Rare‐Earth‐Free Hard Magnetic Materials and Related Multiscale Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article provides an overview of recent advancements in bulk processing of rare‐earth‐free hard magnetic materials. It also addresses related simulation approaches at different scales. The research on rare‐earth‐free magnetic materials has increased significantly in recent years, driven by supply chain issues, environmental and social concerns, and
