Graph theory and Q-analysis

Environment and Planning B: Planning and Design, 1981
Structures of graph theory are compared with those of Q-analysis and there are many similarities. The graph and simplicial complex defined by a relation are equivalent in terms of the information they represent, so that the choice between graph theory and Q-analysis depends on which gives the most natural and complete description of a system.

Social network analysis from graph theory

2023
Research in social network analysis, which draws on mathematical concepts from graph theory and theoretical frameworks from sociology, focuses on the role of structure in health outcomes. Relationship patterns among persons, communities, and organisations are what we mean when we talk about structure.

Graph Theory Concepts in Frequency and Availability Analysis

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1985
Steady-state availability and failure frequency are two key indices in a repairable system. They are generally evaluated from Markov models with constant transition rates. Numerical solutions can be found for relatively large systems using computer programs.

On Applying Graph Theory to ILP Analysis

IEEE Latin America Transactions, 2006
The evaluation of computer architectures requires new tools that complement the customary simulations. Graph theory can help to create a new frame of fine grain parallelism analysis. The differences found between the superscalar performance in x86 and non-x86 processors and the peculiar characteristics of the x86 instruction set architecture recommend ...

Pregnancy monitoring using graph theory based analysis

2015 International Conference on Advances in Biomedical Engineering (ICABME), 2015
Monitoring pregnancy using noninvasive recordings of uterine contractions is still an unsolved issue. Here, we propose a new way to tackle this problem using the electrohysterographic (EHG) signals recorded during pregnancy and labor. The new approach is based on the analysis of the propagation of the uterine electrical activity.

Systemic Risk and Complex Systems: A Graph-Theory Analysis

2013
This chapter summarizes several empirical studies in finance, undertaken through the prism of the graph theory. In these studies, we built graphs in order to investigate integration and systemic risk in derivative markets. Several classes of underlying assets (i.e.

Network meta‐analysis, electrical networks and graph theory

Research Synthesis Methods, 2012
Network meta‐analysis is an active field of research in clinical biostatistics. It aims to combine information from all randomized comparisons among a set of treatments for a given medical condition. We show how graph‐theoretical methods can be applied to network meta‐analysis.

Structural Analysis of Nanoscale Network Materials Using Graph Theory

ACS Nano, 2021
Many materials with remarkable properties are structured as percolating nanoscale networks (PNNs). The design of this rapidly expanding family of composites and nanoporous materials requires a unifying approach for their structural description. However, their complex aperiodic architectures are difficult to describe using traditional methods that are ...
