Toward graphene chloride: chlorination of graphene and graphene oxide

open access: yesRSC Advances, 2016
Chlorinated graphene derivates with chlorine concentration exceeding 11 at% were synthesized by high temperature exfoliation in chlorine atmosphere. Halogen graphenes have a great potential for electronic and electrochemical devices.

Scalable Manufacturing of Radiation‐Tolerant Potentiometric Electrodes: A Systematic Transition from Laboratory to Semiautomated Fabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laboratory protocols for producing thin‐film pH electrodes for sterilized single‐use technologies have been successfully developed into a semiautomated workflow, with higher throughput and precision of membrane thickness. Accuracies are within 0.05 pH units versus ground truth, and uncertainty analysis reveals the largest sources of error to be derived

Direct dry transfer of chemical vapor deposition graphene to polymeric substrates [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We demonstrate the direct dry transfer of large area Chemical Vapor Deposition graphene to several polymers (low density polyethylene, high density polyethylene, polystyrene, polylactide acid and poly(vinylidenefluoride-co-trifluoroethylene) by means of only moderate heat and pressure, and the later mechanical peeling of the original graphene substrate.

Covalently‐Bonded Diaphite Nanoplatelet with Engineered Electronic Properties of Diamond

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel approach to engineering the electronic properties of diamond is reported on the diaphite nanoplatelet consisting of (11¯${{\bar{1}}}$1) planes of diamond nanoplatelet covalently bonded with graphite (0001) planes. The strong sp3/sp2‐hybridized interfacial covalent bonding induces the electron transfer from diamond to graphite, resulting in a ...

Strain-engineered inverse charge-funnelling in layered semiconductors

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
The application of strain to semiconducting materials can be used to engineer electric fields through a varying energy gap. Here, the authors observe an inverse charge-funnel effect in atomically thin HfS2, enabled by strain-induced electric fields.
