Transmission and scarring in graphene quantum dots

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2009
We study electronic transport in quantum-dot structures made of graphene. Focusing on the rectangular dot geometry and utilizing the non-equilibrium Green's function to calculate the transmission in the tight-binding framework, we find significant fluctuations in the transmission as a function of the electron energy.

Functional microspheres of graphene quantum dots

Nanotechnology, 2012
Graphene-quantum-dot microspheres (GQDSs) have been prepared by assembly of graphene quantum dots (GQDs) via a water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion technique without the addition of any surfactants. Although made of quantum-sized graphene dots, the as-formed GQDSs are solid and remain intact after slight ultrasonication. The versatile W/O emulsion method allows

Polymorphic Architectures of Graphene Quantum Dots

Advanced Materials, 2017
A systematic strategy for designing structured nanomaterials is demonstrated through self‐assembly of graphene quantum dots. The approach reveals that graphene derivatives at the nanoscale assemble into various architectures of nanocrystals in a binary solution system.

Graphene Quantum Dots for Theranostics and Bioimaging

Pharmaceutical Research, 2016
Since their advent in the early 1990s, nanomaterials hold promise to constitute improved technologies in the biomedical area. In particular, graphene quantum dots (GQDs) were conjectured to produce new or improve current methods used for bioimaging, drug delivery, and biomarker sensors for early detection of diseases.

Quantum confinement in graphene quantum dots

physica status solidi (RRL) – Rapid Research Letters, 2014
AbstractBy performing density functional theory calculations, we studied the quantum confinement in charged graphene quantum dots (GQDs), which is found to be clearly edge and shape dependent. It is found that the excess charges have a large distribution at the edges of the GQD.
