ISPF Version 4 introduced a GUI (Graphical User Interface, which is also referred to as the client/server interface). The GUI provides workstation support for ISPF mainframe applications, although not all features provided by os/2 (or Windows 3.1) are available.

The technical term for these types of ‘man-machine-interfaces’ is Graphical User Interface, and the abbreviation is GUI.

In this chapter we describe the graphical user interface that we have developed for our animation system. The purpose of the user interface is to make it easy for the animator to initialize animations and to control the behaviors of the artificial fishes at the low level, i.e., the physics level, and at the high level, i.e., the motivation level.
