Challenges in Automated Testing Through Graphical User Interface
2018 IEEE International Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation Workshops (ICSTW), 2018The widespread use of iterative and incremental processes and continuous integration practices in software development has shortened the development cycles, drastically limiting the time for testing and quality assurance of each release. At the same time the software systems are getting ever more complex, systems of systems with multitude of platforms ...

How to test graphical user interfaces
IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine, 2003An approach for automatically testing GUIs in the MATLAB environment has been proposed. We developed a software tool that tests GUIs by simulating the user through an action recorder. We proposed a heuristic test procedure: providing random input to GUI, but guiding the randomness with predefined weights assigned to the user controls.

Automation testing of Graphical User Interface
2012 20th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR), 2012In this paper is explained one solution for automation of testing Graphical User Interface. The paper gives a description of the problem, the concept of a solution and a description of the implementation of such a solution in order to confirm the above concept.

Techniques and tools for testing graphical user interfaces
2022Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) are an abstraction to facilitate human-computer interaction by presenting virtual objects, widgets, via which a program visualizes its internal state and receives user inputs. GUIs are the dominant human-computer interaction paradigm. Hence, validating their correctness is important. One way to test a GUI is to simulate

A Graphical User Interface (GUI) Testing Methodology
International Journal of Information Technology and Web Engineering, 2008Software testing in general and graphical user interface (GUI) testing in particular is one of the major challenges in the lifecycle of any software system. GUI testing is inherently more difficult than the traditional and command-line interface testing.

Testing Graphical User Interfaces
2009This chapter describes the state of the art in testing GUI-based software. Traditionally, GUI testing has been performed manually or semimanually, with the aid of capture- replay tools. Since this process may be too slow and ineffective to meet the demands of today’s developers and users, recent research in GUI testing has pushed toward automation ...

Towards behavior-driven graphical user interface testing
ACM SIGAPP Applied Computing Review, 2019The majority of users interacts with an application through its graphical user interface (GUI). To ensure high quality and expected behavior, those graphical user interfaces have to be tested thoroughly. Yet, creating graphical user interface test cases is considered expensive in comparison to unit or integration tests.

Testudine, a Graphical User Interface for Physical Integration Testing
2020 Fourth IEEE International Conference on Robotic Computing (IRC), 2020In this paper we describe Testudine, which is a Graphical User Interface for the ROSPIT2 Physical Integration Testing Framework for ROS 2. Testudine will allow novice users to create physical integration tests, thus widening the audience for PIT. Testudine has a web-based client written using React and a back-end written in Python. The back-end is used

Automated testing of graphical user interfaces
Proceedings of the 2013 ACM workshop on Mobile development lifecycle, 2013Smartphones and tablets with rich graphical user interfaces are becoming increasingly popular. Hundreds of thousands of specialized applications, called apps, are available for such mobile platforms. Manual testing is the most popular technique for testing graphical user interfaces of such apps.
