Synthesis of carbon nanofiber/graphite-felt composite as a catalyst

Microporous and Mesoporous Materials, 2006
Abstract Carbon nanofiber/graphite-felt composite with desirable shape and size has been synthesized by the method of catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD) through the growth of carbon nanofibers (CNFs) on the surface of the graphite microfibers of the felt.

Electrogeneration of hydrogen peroxide by oxygen reduction using anodized graphite felt

Journal of the Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers, 2021
Abstract Background Electrocatalytic synthesis of H2O2 by oxygen reduction is regarded as the most promising alternative to AO process, and thus, design of a cost-effective and highly active cathode of vital significance. Methods This work modified graphite felts via anodic oxidation process in NH4HCO3 aqueous, and demonstrated the ...

Kinetics of graphitization of carbon-felt/carbon-matrix composites

Carbon, 1974
Abstract The kinetics of graphitization of two carbon/carbon composites, prepared by the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of carbon within carbon felt substrates, were investigated over a temperature range of 2300 to 2660°C and time intervals of 5 to 360 min. Each of these carbon-felt/carbon-matrix (CVD/felt) materials graphitized at a more rapid rate

Hierarchical composite of Co2+ doped polyaniline/graphite felt for supercapacitor

Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics, 2017
In this paper, a facile method was introduced to prepare the hierarchical composite that the aligned Co2+ doped PANI nanowires and twining Co2+ doped PANI nanofibers were delicately synthesized on the graphite fiber (Co2+ doped PANI/gf). The structure of Co2+ doped PANI was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron ...

Flow electrochemical analyses of zinc by stripping voltammetry on graphite felt electrode

Talanta, 2012
A flow sensor for trace analysis of zinc, using graphite felt as working electrode is reported here. A flow cell, well-adapted to 3-D porous electrodes and capable to do both the preconcentration step at a cathodic potential and the stripping of the zinc was successfully developed.

Effect of graphite felt and activated carbon fiber felt on performance of freshwater sediment microbial fuel cell

Journal of Chemical Technology & Biotechnology, 2012
AbstractBACKGROUND: Sediment microbial fuel cells (SMFCs) could be used as power sources and one type of new technology for the removal of organic matters in sediments. Various types of materials have been used as electrodes. Nevertheless, there is still room to improve electrode materials and enhance their effect on the performance of SMFCs.

ZrO2-Nanoparticle-Modified Graphite Felt: Bifunctional Effects on Vanadium Flow Batteries

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2016
To improve the electrochemical performance of graphite felt (GF) electrodes in vanadium flow batteries (VFBs), we synthesize a series of ZrO2-modified GF (ZrO2/GF) electrodes with varying ZrO2 contents via a facile immersion-precipitation approach.

Deposition of diamond on graphite and carbon felt from graphite heated in hydrogen at low pressure

Journal of Materials Science Letters, 2000
The objectives of this research were to deposit diamond on graphite and carbon felt using our new closedchamber method [1], and to determine the influence of centrifugation on this deposition. It has long been known that hydrogen reacts with graphite at elevated temperatures to form a variety of hydrocarbon products. Balooch and Olander [2] published a

Oxygen reduction on SILAR deposited iron oxide onto graphite felt electrode

Electrochimica Acta, 2016
The potential characteristics of graphite felt electrodes, modified by iron oxide, for oxygen reduction are evaluated. Modification is carried out by Successive Ion Layer Adsorption and Reaction (SILAR) method, using a solution of ferric nitrate in methanol for the adsorption of ions, and a solution of sodium hypochlorite for reaction.

Electrocatalytic Oxidative Coupling of Methylquinolines on TEMPO-modified Graphite Felt Electrodes

Chemistry Letters, 1993
Abstract 2- and 4-Methylquinolines were oxidized to 2,2′-dimethyl-4,4′-biquinolyl and 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-biquinolyl, respectively, both in ca. 94% isolated yield and ca. 90% current efficiency on a graphite felt electrode coated with a thin poly(acrylic acid) layer containing 4-amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyl-1-oxyl (4-amino-TEMPO).
