A Combined Infrared Spectroscopy Database and Analysis Tool

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, Volume 97, Issue 5, Page 463-471, May 2025.
Modern DFT software often lacks sufficient tooling to adjust for peak broadening effects in infrared spectroscopy. The described application approximates peak width using Gaussian functions, allowing for real‐time adjustments and comparisons with experimental and simulated spectra, in addition to a spectral database.

Bayesian Effect Size Ranking to Prioritise Genetic Risk Variants in Common Diseases for Follow‐Up Studies

open access: yesGenetic Epidemiology, Volume 49, Issue 1, February 2025.
ABSTRACT Biological datasets often consist of thousands or millions of variables, e.g. genetic variants or biomarkers, and when sample sizes are large it is common to find many associated with an outcome of interest, for example, disease risk in a GWAS, at high levels of statistical significance, but with very small effects.

GraphQL Live Querying with DynamoDB

open access: yesCoRR, 2020
We present a method of implementing GraphQL live queries at the database level. Our DynamoDB simulation in Go mimics a distributed key-value store and implements live queries to expose possible pitfalls. Two key components for implementing live queries are storing fields selected in a live query and determining which object fields have been updated in ...

Exploring Genetic Markers for Cold–Heat Patterns: Integrating Traditional Medicine With Modern Genomic Research

open access: yesGenetics Research , Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Background Temperature sensitivity has gained considerable attention in the era of precision medicine. This trait has long been used to identify cold–heat patterns (C‐HPs), a diagnostic framework in Traditional Korean Medicine that categorizes individuals based on their thermal responses.

State‐of‐the‐practice in quality assurance in Java‐based open source software development

open access: yesSoftware: Practice and Experience, Volume 54, Issue 8, Page 1408-1446, August 2024.
Summary To ensure the quality of software systems, software engineers can make use of a variety of quality assurance approaches, for example, software testing, modern code review, automated static analysis, and build automation. Each of these quality assurance practices have been studied in depth in isolation, but there is a clear knowledge gap when it
