Texture and Shape Features for Grass Weed Classification Using Hyperspectral Remote Sensing Images
Automatic grass weed detection and classification deals with large intraclass challenges since they are similar to grass in shape, sizes and colors. Grass weed detection and mapping is critical for site-specific weed control to reduce the cost of labor ...

The grass carp for weed control
Hydrobiological Bulletin, 1975The agricultural and recreational use of waterways is decreased by a too luxurous growth of various species of aquatic plants. Weed control has to be carried out at least once every year. The old-fashioned hand-cutting has nearly been abandoned, due to shortage of manpower and high costs.

Control of Grasses and Weeds Growing in Asphalt Pavements
PANS Pest Articles & News Summaries, 1970Abstract Herbicides offer the engineer a means for controlling vegetation involving asphalt surfaces. The plants may arise from seeds or plant parts in the base material, by encroachment of plants from outside the pavement, or from seeds that become lodged in cracks or seams in the pavement.

Economic weed control with grass carp
Tropical Pest Management, 1984Abstract Conventional methods of aquatic weed control meet increasing objections on economic and/or environmental grounds. An alternative approach is the use of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella Val.), a herbivorous fish. This biological method has mainly been used in Europe and the USA, but since 1976 an Egyptian‐Dutch project has studied the ...

Herbicides for Postemergence Control of Annual Grass Weeds in Seedling Forage Grasses
Weed Science, 1989The control of three summer annual grass weeds with herbicides during establishment of forage grasses was studied near Concord and Mead, NE, in 1984, 1985, and 1986. Three cool-season forage grasses, intermediate wheatgrass, tall fescue, and smooth bromegrass, and two warm-season grasses, big bluestem and switchgrass, were included.

Selective Weed Control in Seedling Cool-Season Grasses
Weed Science, 1970Seven herbicides were applied for selective weed control on three different seedling stands of five cool-season grasses. The herbicides were evaluated for their influence on weed control, grass establishment, and first crop grass seed production. These experiments indicate that 3,5-dibromo-4-hydroxybenzonitrile (bromoxynil) was outstanding in selective
