Spike detection in the wild: Screening of suspected temporal lobe epilepsy cases using a tailored 2‐channel wearable EEG

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To clinically validate the contribution of a custom‐built EEG wearable device (waEEG) compared to a full 10–20 electrode array ambulatory EEG (aEEG) for screening epilepsy cases in patients with suspected temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) but negative routine EEGs. Methods Patients (aged 16–91 years) with clinically suspected TLE who were

Integrating Remote Sensing and Machine Learning for Enhanced Surface Urban Heat Island Analysis and Its Impact on Building Energy Demand

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Satellite (MODIS) mapping links Urban Heat Island (UHI) intensity to city‐scale energy demand—higher daytime cooling demand and altered nighttime heating demand—supporting targeted mitigation and planning. ABSTRACT This study examines the surface urban heat island (SUHI) effect on building energy consumption in Tehran from 1998 to 2024, utilizing MODIS

Collaborative Optimization of Electromagnetic Interference Shielding, Adaptive Multi‐Color, and Thermal Camouflage of Basalt Fibers by Temperature‐Induced Gradient Structure Control

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
Polychromatic BFs with exceptional EMI and thermal shielding were fabricated based on a “plasma activation‐ALD bridging‐chemical plating‐post annealing treatments” gradient functionalization strategy. As prepared, basalt fiber/fabric demonstrates outstanding EMI SE of 53.47 dB and thermal infrared camouflage effect.

Comparative Effects of Three Microbial Starter Cultures on the Physicochemical and Sensory Quality of Fermented Sausages

open access: yesFood Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study innovatively links specific microbial compositions of commercial starter cultures to the evolution of key odorant and taste‐active amino acids, revealing the underlying mechanisms behind distinct flavor profiles. Three microbial starter cultures—Saccharomyces cerevisiae (SC), Scarlet (ST), and Roxaane LC (LC), were added to sausages,
