Grating triplet

Applied Optics, 1995
A grating-pair device is useful for producing negative group velocity dispersion of temporal optical signals. When high dispersion is needed or large bandwidth is involved, higher-order dispersion terms become significant. The grating triplet is a new approach to create dispersion that can produce negative or positive group-velocity dispersion without ...

Displacement measuring grating interferometer: a review

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering, 2019
A grating interferometer, called the “optical encoder,” is a commonly used tool for precise displacement measurements. In contrast to a laser interferometer, a grating interferometer is insensitive to the air refractive index and can be easily applied to

Novel immersion grating, VPH grating and quasi-Bragg grating

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
We have successfully fabricated germanium immersion gratings with resolving power of 45,000 at 10 μm by using a nano precision 3D grinding machine and ELID (ELectrolytic In-process Dressing) method. However the method spends large amount of machine times.

Grating interferometers for producing large holographic gratings

Applied Optics, 1990
Methods for producing large holographic diffraction gratings are described. In particular, the advantages of using a grating interferometer illuminated with a noncollimated beam from either an extended monochromatic source or an extended polychromatic source are described along with some of the problems that arise and methods to solve them ...

Grating Acoustic Scanners

1975 Ultrasonics Symposium, 1975
A simple acoustic scanning device has been devised in which a chirped SAW beam is converted into a focused scanning bulk wave beam by coherent scattering from a grating of parallel grooves. The device can operate in both transmitting and receiving modes, and is applicable to the acoustic imaging of objects in real time.

Chiral Fiber Gratings

Science, 2004
Chiral gratings with double helix symmetry were produced by twisting glass optical fiber with a noncircular core cross section as it passed through a miniature oven. We observed polarization-selective transmission in chiral fibers with pitches of tens of micrometers. Two modes of optical interaction were differentiated.

Circular Dammann grating

Optics Letters, 2003
A circular Dammann grating that can produce circular equal intensities at various orders in the far field is described. A set of parameters such as order, circular number, uniformity, and diffraction efficiency has been defined to describe the novel diffractive phase elements.

Grating-Mediated Waveguiding

Physical Review Letters, 2004
We propose a method of optical waveguiding, which relies on Bragg diffractions from a 1D grating that gives rise to waveguiding in the direction normal to the grating wave vector. The waveguide structure consists of a shallow 1D grating that has a bell- or trough-shaped amplitude in the confinement direction.
