Upscaling Pulsed Laser Fragmentation in Liquids by Advanced Free‐Flow Setups

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Advanced flow setups providing thin colloid films are introduced to upscale pulsed laser fragmentation in liquids for sustainable nanoparticle synthesis. Their potential is demonstrated by yielding remarkably small ZnO nanoparticles of <7 nm. Numerical simulations complement the study, revealing that the superior performance can be attributed to ...

Multilayer Biobased Poly(ethylene furanoate)/Graphene Oxide Nanofibrous Membranes With Directional Water Transport for Efficient Microplastics Filtration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A self‐assembled multilayer biobased PEF/GO nanofibrous membrane was developed by electrospinning for efficient PLA microplastics (MPs) filtration. The membrane combines superhydrophilicity, directional water transport, mechanical robustness, and a synergistic size‐exclusion interception and electrostatic repulsion MPs separation mechanism, enabling ...

A Cryopreservation‐Based Supply Chain Strategy for Extrusion Bioprinting in Space

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Extrusion bioprinting on crewed space platforms requires a bioink that stays functional along the logistic chain. Here, cells and biomaterial ink travel separately, the cells cryopreserved and the ink cold stored, and are combined only minutes before printing.

UCST‐Driven Shape Morphing in Digital Light Processing 4D‐Printed Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A DLP‐printable UCST hydrogel based on poly(acrylic acid‐co‐acrylamide) enables reversible thermally induced expansion and 4D shape morphing. Rational control of composition, porosity, and multimaterial architecture enables predictable 4D shape morphing through differential swelling and localized actuation, opening new opportunities for high‐resolution

Surrogate‐Optimized Flow‐Guided Miniature Condenser for Rapid Exhaled Glucose Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A surrogate‐optimized miniature condenser guides humid exhaled flow toward cold surfaces to accelerate exhaled breath condensate collection. By improving vapor access within a compact footprint, the design increases sample yield. This enables post‐collection enrichment and rapid colorimetric glucose detection from dilute exhaled biomarkers within a 5 ...

High Throughput Aerosol Jet Printing to Operationalize High Aspect Ratio Patterning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
High‐throughput aerosol jet printing poses distinct limiting mechanisms to the printing process. These include rapidly changing ink chemistries, atomization instabilities, and liquid‐phase spreading. The combination of in‐line heating, process monitoring, and traditional optimization procedures enables rapid printing of high‐aspect‐ratio structures ...

Contextualizing Grave Goods

2013
Abstract The material culture of mortuary practices is one of the central sources at our disposal in the archaeological interpretation of past societies. The purpose of this chapter is thus to present a number of theoretical considerations deemed relevant to the study of grave goods. A short review of previous and contemporary approaches

Bronze Grave Goods from Norcia

Etruscan Studies, 2011
Bronze vessels and others bronze artifacts, now in the National Archaeological Museum of Spoleto, unpublished, belong to a grave from the necropolis of Norcia, extended in a large area known as 'Piano di Santa Scolastica'. Associations of these artifacts are very interesting and indicate, often, contexts belonging to individuals of Celtic ethnicity.
