Application of geospatial analysis for mapping the distribution of severe maternal morbidities in eastern Ethiopia: The case of the Ethiopian obstetric surveillance system

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 175, Issue 1, Page 127-137, October 2026.
Abstract Introduction The disparity in maternal mortality and severe morbidity between high‐ and low‐income countries is well established. Previously, we highlighted within‐country disparities in Ethiopia using demographic and health survey data. This study used enhanced obstetric surveillance data to detect subnational hotspot areas and factors ...

Predictors for intrapartum cesarean delivery after labor induction for suspected fetal growth restriction at term

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 175, Issue 1, Page 249-256, October 2026.
Abstract Objective In term pregnancies with suspected fetal growth restriction (FGR) undergoing induction of labor (IOL), predictors for intrapartum cesarean delivery (CD) remain unclear. We aimed to determine predictors for intrapartum CD in this population. Methods This study included a retrospective cohort of singleton pregnancies undergoing IOL at ≥

Influence of maternal body mass index on the accuracy of clinical and sonographic fetal weight estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 175, Issue 1, Page 263-272, October 2026.
Abstract Objective Estimated fetal weight (EFW) is essential for managing pregnancy and delivery. Currently, two primary methods are used for EFW: Clinical and sonographic estimation. Both might be influenced by maternal habitus. Obesity has become a global epidemic; however, its effect on EFW and the accuracy of the two methods has yet to be ...

Estradiol Promotes Tumor Progression in ERα‐Low Endometrial Cancer via the GPER/SphK1 Pathway

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 10, October 2026.
Estradiol (E2) promotes tumor progression in ERα‐low endometrial cancer through the GPER/SphK1/ERK1/2 signaling axis. E2 binding to GPER activates SphK1 and downstream ERK1/2, upregulating Cyclin D1, Cyclin E1, and MMP‐9 to drive cell proliferation, migration, and invasion.

Cannibalism in Buchananiella whitei (Hemiptera: Anthocoridae) and its intraguild interactions with seven predatory mites (Acari: Phytoseiidae & Laelapidae)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 10, Page 10030-10038, October 2026.
Extraguild prey reduces cannibalism and intraguild predation in Buchananiella whitei, while first‐instar nymphs dominate most predatory mites, with outcomes affected by body size and behavioral traits. Abstract BACKGROUND Cannibalism and intraguild predation (IGP) are common interactions among predators that can influence the effectiveness of ...
