Comparison of gravimetric geoids with Geos 3 altimetric geoid

Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1979
By means of 1° × 1° gravimetric geoids in the North Atlantic, Northwest Pacific, and Indian oceans, comparisons have been made with Geos 3 radar altimeter estimates of geoid height. Most commonly, there are constant offsets and long‐wavelength discrepancies between the two data sets; there are many probable causes, including radial orbit error, scale ...

The Italian Gravimetric Geoid

1990
A new step of the Italian geoid has been almost completed. The geoid has been computed all over the Italian territory using a new gravity data base and a global model. The computation has been partly repeated using a digital height model too in order to separate the terrain effects; this job is still in development.

The gravimetric geoid of Sudan

Journal of Geodynamics, 1991
Abstract The gravimetric geoid for the Sudanese subcontinent was computed on a grid defined by the geographical coordinates 4°N–22°N, 22°E–36°E. This geoid was referred to the geodetic reference system 1980 (GRS80) and transformed to the local datum in the Sudan (Adindan datum).

The Gravimetric Geoid for Libya

1998
In most positioning, mapping and exploration applications, conventional spirit levelling is being replaced by modern methods such as GPS and use of geoid information. The objective of this paper is to compute a precise geoid/quasigeoid model for Libya based on high resolution gravity and terrain data in combination with a global geopotential model.

A gravimetric geoid of Australia

Australian Surveyor, 1989
Abstract Using a combination of terrestrial free air anomalies and a geopotenlial model, a gravimetric geoid model has been determined on a one-degree geographical grid for Australia. The results show a geoid separation increasing in a north-easterly direction from - 35 m in the south-west to +70 m in the north of Cape York.

The Gravimetric geoid of Tanzania

Survey Review, 2007
AbstractIn continuation of earlier work on the geoid of Eastern Africa a further study has been undertaken to determine the geoid of Tanzania, bounded by latitude −12° ≤ φ ≤ -1°, longitude 29° ≤ λ ≤ 40°. The geoid was determined at a resolution grid of 5 minutes of arc. The Geodetic Reference System 1980 (GRS80) was used.

THE DETAILED GRAVIMETRIC GEOID OF KENYA

Survey Review, 1986
AbstractThe detailed gravimetric geoid of Kenya was computed on Geodetic Reference System 1980 (GRS80) using a combination of satellite-derived potential coefficients and terrestrial gravity data. The long-wavelength component of geoidal undulation was computed using GEM10B potential coefficients.

The first Northern Moroccan gravimetric geoid

Physics and Chemistry of the Earth, 1998
Abstract A local gravimetric geoid is computed on the Northern Moroccan area using 60448 gravimetric data points. The available statistical methods have been used to describe the gravimetric data and to estimate the covariance function. The spherical form of the Stokes integral in its discrete form and the approximated spherical kernel in the multi ...

Geomed2: gravimetric versus combined geoid model

2017
The GEOMED 2 project aims at the determination of a high-accuracy and resolution marine geoid model based on the availability of improved models for gravity, thanks to GRACE and GOCE in particular, for land topography and bathymetry, and the compilation of a cleaned-up gravity database of the Mediterranean area based on BGI and SHOM data. GEOMED 2 uses

European Gravimetric Geoid: Status Report 1994

1995
This paper describes the current status of the European quasigeoid calculation performed at the Institut fur Erdmessung (IfE). Emphasis is put on the progress made in data collection (gravity and terrain) as well as on the refinement of the computation strategies (spectral combination).
