We consider the effect that gravity has when one tries to set up a constant background form field. We find that in analogy with the Melvin solution, where magnetic field lines self-gravitate to form a flux-tube, the self-gravity of the form field creates fluxbranes.

Gravitational Viscoelastodynamics
We consider a compositionally and entropically stratified, compressible, rotating fluid earth and study gravitational-viscoelastic perturbations of its hydrostatic initial state. Using the Lagrangian representation and assuming infinitesimal perturbations, we deduce the incremental field equations and interface conditions of {\em gravitational ...

Probing gravitation with pulsars
Radio pulsars are fascinating and extremely useful objects. Despite our on-going difficulties in understanding the details of their emission physics, they can be used as precise cosmic clocks in a wide-range of experiments -- in particular for probing ...

An Objective Classification Scheme for Solar-System Bodies Based on Surface Gravity
We introduce succinct and objective definitions of the various classes of objects in the solar system. Unlike the formal definitions adopted by the International Astronomical Union in 2006, group separation is obtained from measured physical properties ...

Extended Theories of Gravitation
In this paper we shall review the equivalence between Palatini$-f(\mathcal R)$ theories and Brans- Dicke (BD) theories at the level of action principles.

Since Galileo, the arrays of lenses in telescopes have revolutionized the way we see planets, moons, and the universe. Now gravitational lenses made of warped spacetime are helping astronomers peer into the farthest corners of the cosmos.

We investigate the ability of the exponential power-law inflation to be a phenomenologically correct model of the early universe. We study General Relativity (GR) scalar cosmology equations in Ivanov–Salopek–Bond (or Hamilton–Jacobi like) representation ...
