Abstract figure legend Ageing is associated with reduced motor neuron excitability and lower motor unit (MU) discharge rates, contributing to impaired voluntary force production. Using high‐density surface EMG and longitudinal motor unit tracking, we show that 4 weeks of isometric strength training increases discharge rates and estimates of persistent ...

Abstract The retrogressive thaw slumps (RTS), a prevalent form of thermokarst hazard in permafrost regions, are increasing in both number and extent under contemporary changing environments. On the Qinghai‐Tibet Plateau, RTS threaten transportation infrastructure and disrupt ecosystems.

Abstract Inverse grading, where coarse particles overlay finer materials, is common on talus slopes, yet its progressive formation under realistic conditions is rarely quantified. We integrate multi‐year field observations with controlled freeze‐thaw experiments to elucidate the processes driving particle migration that result in inverse grading and ...

Scaling of Latitude‐Dependent Heat Transport in Geostrophic Convection
Abstract Latitudinal variations in heat transport shape the thermal and magnetic evolution of rapidly rotating planets, stars, and icy moons. Although global simulations have revealed strong equatorial–polar contrasts, a predictive scaling theory has been lacking.

Fast and Slow Signal Propagation in Abiotic Polypeptide Assemblies
Proteinoid microspheres formed by thermal polymerization of amino acids exhibit spontaneous electrical potential fluctuations without genetic material, membranes, or ion channels. Multi‐electrode recordings and electron microscopy reveal composition‐dependent voltage oscillations, long‐term drifts, and correlated signals across electrodes.
