Probing the dark matter density evolution law with large scale structures

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2021
We propose a new method to explore a possible departure from the standard time evolution law for the dark matter density. We looked for a violation of this law by using a deformed evolution law, given by $$\rho _c(z) \propto (1+z)^{3+\epsilon }$$ ρ c ( z

High‐Impulse, Modular, 3D‐Printed CubeSat Electrospray Thrusters Throttleable via Pressure and Voltage Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports the proof‐of‐concept demonstration of novel, additively manufactured, droplet‐emitting electrospray emitter arrays for CubeSat thruster applications. The modular thruster design incorporates multiscale features that enable scaling up thrust with low power consumption by employing two different vat photopolymerization technologies, i ...

Detecting Dark Objects with Plasma Microlensing by Their Gravitational Wakes

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
A moving mass makes a gravitational wake in the partially ionized interstellar medium, which acts as a lens for radio-frequency light. Consequently, plasma microlensing could complement gravitational microlensing in the search for invisible massive ...

Advanced Microfluidic‐Based Wearable Electrochemical Sensors for Continuous Biochemical Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Microfluidic‐based wearable electrochemical sensors are transforming non‐invasive health monitoring through real‐time biochemical analysis of sweat, saliva, and interstitial fluid. This review explores advances in microfluidic design, fabrication, and sensor integration while addressing biofluid variability, material compatibility, and scalability.

Gravitational lensing by a dark compact object in modified gravity and observational constraints from Einstein rings

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
In this manuscript, we provide a comprehensive study of gravitational lensing by dark compact objects predicted by modified gravity (MOG) based on the scalar–vector–tensor action, with the aim of providing new insights into the nature of gravitational ...

Optoelectronically Innervated Suction Cup Inspired by the Octopus

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work presents an octopus‐inspired suction cup capable of high‐resolution estimation of the orientation of the suction cup with respect to an object surface. A camera captures the displacement of markers that are integrated in the suction cup using an automated design and manufacturing process.

Inferring Properties of Dark Galactic Halos Using Strongly Lensed Gravitational Waves

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Gravitational waves (GWs) can be deflected, similarly to electromagnetic (EM) waves, by massive objects through the phenomenon of gravitational lensing .

Mentors and sponsors: Making a difference for racially and culturally minoritised academics in Australian universities

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
Abstract Mentorship and sponsorships play a significant role in faculty experiences, career trajectories, well‐being and academic success in higher education. In this study, 23 racially and culturally minoritised (RACM) academics were interviewed about their experiences working in Australian universities, and all spoke about the key importance of their

Bias Starts Early. Let's Start Now: Developing an Anti‐Racist, Anti‐Bias Book Collection for Infants and Toddlers

open access: yesThe Reading Teacher, Volume 76, Issue 4, Page 505-510, January/February 2023., 2023
Abstract During the first year of life, children begin to develop preferences for their own racial group over others. To interrupt the development of these and other biases during infancy and toddlerhood, educators can use books to promote anti‐racist and anti‐bias thinking and behaviors in children, while also supporting children's emergent literacy ...

A gravitational lens model for B1422+231 [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1993
We construct a simple elliptical gravitational lens model for the quadruple lens B1422+231 and show that the details of the configuration cannot be easily understood in terms of this model; in particular, the flux ratios of the images are hard to reproduce.
