Gravitational Waves: Detection and Sources

2015
In Sect. 1.4, we have shown that a GW causes the stretching and shrinking of the proper distance between test particles.

Gravitational waves from isolated sources

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1966
Using general relativity we study gravitational waves from isolated, axially-symmetric sources. We start with a metric due to Bondi, and use the double-series approximation method. In the linear approximation we obtain a general solution for the 2 s axially-symmetric multipole field.
