Gravitating effect of gravitation.

2011
The work reported in this thesis is based on the vierbein field formulation of gravitational theory, used in conjunction with the method of the compensating field. It is shown that the most general linear equations of second order for a tensor field, which are invariant under orientations of the local inertial frame and under gauge transformations of ...

The Gravitational Compass

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1965
A purely covariant approach to general relativity, using the equation of geodesic deviation, is adopted. The physical interpretation is essentially that due to Pirani, but instead of using clouds of particles to analyze the gravitational field, a ``gravitational compass'' is proposed which fulfills the same purpose.

Electricity and Gravitation

Physical Review, 1920
Electric Doublet Theory of Gravitation.---It is suggested that gravitation may be an effect arising from fluctuations of the electric charges associated with the electrons and positive nuclei of atoms. It is assumed (1) that the ether contains an enormous number of electric doublets moving in all directions with the speed of light; (2) that each ...

Scalar Gravitation

American Journal of Physics, 1964
Nordström's scalar theory of gravitation is discussed from a modern point of view, and compared with some aspects of general relativity. We discuss the equations of motion for test masses, the field equations in the presence of matter, and the extent to which the principle of equivalence, Mach's principle, and the expansion of the universe are ...

The Constant of Gravitation

Nature, 1937
WITH regard to Prof. P. A. M. Dirac's recent letter to NATURE1, I have shown, in various contexts2 that the relation between, the constant of gravitation, and t, the epoch, is given by where M0 is the apparent mass of the fictitious homogeneous universe.
