Quantum Gravity: A Primer for Philosophers. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
‘Quantum Gravity’ does not denote any existing theory: the field of quantum gravity is very much a ‘work in progress’. As you will see in this chapter, there are multiple lines of attack each with the same core goal: to find a theory that unifies, in ...

Stable Protein‐Based G‐Quadruplex‐Derived Supramolecular Bioinks as Tunable ECM‐Mimetic Constructs Assembled by Combining Non‐Covalent and Covalent Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Harnessing the synergistic interplay of supramolecular self‐assembly, under macromolecular crowding conditions, and enzymatic‐mediated covalent crosslinking toward a stable protein‐based G‐quadruplex‐derived supramolecular bioink. This bioinspired strategy enables the biofabrication of complex and tunable ECM‐mimetic constructs, providing a platform ...

International Trade without CES: Estimating Translog Gravity [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper derives a micro-founded gravity equation in general equilibrium based on a translog demand system that allows for endogenous markups and substitution patterns across goods.

On the origin of gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
It is argued that the existence of a minimum interval of space and time may imply the existence of gravity as a geometric property of spacetime described by general ...

Gravity formality

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematics, 2018
We show that Willwacher's cyclic formality theorem can be extended to preserve natural Gravity operations on cyclic multivector fields and cyclic multidifferential operators. We express this in terms of a homotopy Gravity quasi-isomorphism with explicit local formulas.

Miniature Soft Robot With Magnetically Reprogrammable Surgical Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Miniature soft robots have great prospects to revolutionize minimally invasive treatments. Here we present a miniature soft robot, which can be reprogrammed to perform five surgical functionalities with six‐degrees‐of‐freedom motions. This soft robot can prospectively make minimally invasive surgery considerably safer and painless, and enable ...

Echoes of gravity

open access: yesGeneral Relativity and Gravitation, 1995
The study of anisotropies in the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation is progressing at a phenomenal rate, both experimentally and theoretically. These anisotropies can teach us an enormous amount about the way that fluctuations were generated and the way they subsequently evolved into the clustered galaxies which are observed today. In particular, on

Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

Hydrogel‐Based Airway‐on‐Tube With Perfusable Endothelial Lumen and Outward Epithelialization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel‐based airway‐on‐tube platform featuring a perfusable endothelial lumen and outward epithelialization is presented. The system supports primary human bronchial epithelial and lung microvascular endothelial coculture under air‐liquid interface conditions.
