Passivity-based Elastic Joint Robot Control with On-line Gravity Compensation

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, a passivity-based controller with the link side on-line gravity compensation for elastic joints of robot manipulators is presented. In this study, a joint level position, torque control law with double loop construction: an outer the motor

AI–Guided 4D Printing of Carnivorous Plants–Inspired Microneedles for Accelerated Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents an artificial intelligence (AI)‐guided 4D‐printed microneedle platform inspired by carnivorous plants for wound healing. A thermo‐responsive shape memory polymer enables body temperature–triggered self‐coiling for autonomous wound closure.

Modelling The Trade Flows of The Gulf Cooperation Council Countries: A New Approach to Gravity Model [PDF]

open access: yes
This study analyzes the trade flows of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) both among its member countries and with the rest of the world by employing a panel data gravity model in the context of the single country approach in order to capture the impacts

Programmable 3D Photovoltaics via Mechanically Origami‐Coded Interlocked 3D Kirigami and Nano‐Root Anchored AgNWs–In–Ga Multiphasic Alloy Conductor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Mechanically origami‐coded 3D kirigami photovoltaics convert a single extension–release cycle into deterministic self‐folding, reconfiguring planar solar cells into programmable 3D modules. Distinct coding strategies enable either ultrahigh stretchability (500% system strain) or ultrahigh initial effective areal coverage (225%).

A Super‐Adhesive Air Filter With Capillarity‐Mediated Spontaneous Particle Absorption via Dynamic Bond Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We address the inherently weak particle adhesion of conventional air filters by coating a dynamically crosslinked adhesive layer that delivers capillarity‐driven strong adhesion and particle absorption mediated by dynamic bond exchange. The resulting enhancement in particle adhesion enables efficient ultrafast (up to 20 m s−1) and omnidirectional ...

Control of Morphogenesis of Woody Plant by Gravity on Earth

open access: yesBiological Sciences in Space, 2003
Using the weeping branch of Japanese flowering cherry tree and its woody stem of the seedling grown under simulated microgravity condition by three dimensional clinostat, it was elucidated that the morphogenesis of its secondary xylem supporting the plant itself to grow upward is seriously controlled by gravity on earth with a sedimentable amyloplast ...

Rational Tuning of Hygroscopic Oscillation of Stacked Nanoflake Assemblies for Continuous Ambient Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Stacked nanoflake assembly (SNA) membranes can oscillate autonomously, offering opportunities for soft actuation and energy harvesting. This work uncovers the physical mechanism behind the sustained oscillation of SNA membranes in gradient humidity and identifies three governing dimensionless parameters, enabling rational design for optimizing SNA ...

Reciprocal trade agreements in gravity models: a meta-analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
Over the time a large number of reciprocal preferential trade agreements (RTAs) have been concluded among countries. Recently many studies have used gravity equations in order to estimate the effect of RTAs on trade flows between partners.
