Dynamic Labyrinthine Pattern in an Active Liquid Film

open access: yes, 2012
We report the generation of a dynamic labyrinthine pattern in an active alcohol film. A dynamic labyrinthine pattern is formed along the contact line of air/pentanol/aqueous three phases.

Gravity-driven flow of continuous thin liquid films on non-porous substrates with topography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A range of two- and three-dimensional problems is explored featuring the gravity-driven flow of a continuous thin liquid film over a non-porous inclined flat surface containing well-defined topography.

Bistable Wetting States on a Smooth Surface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Droplets on non‐textured surfaces typically exhibit a monostable wetting state. Here, we show that droplets can exhibit bistability even without surface texture. We investigate water droplets on a smooth substrate immersed in oil. We find that molecular modulation causes the droplet states to bifurcate into either a sticking or a repellent state ...

Capillary-Gravity Waves on Depth-Dependent Currents: Consequences for the Wave Resistance

open access: yes, 2011
We study theoretically the capillary-gravity waves created at the water-air interface by a small two-dimensional perturbation when a depth-dependent current is initially present in the fluid. Assuming linear wave theory, we derive a general expression of

Topological Point Defects in SmC* Liquid Crystals Under Mechanical Disturbance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Tangetial air jet shear inducess island formation and nucleates topological point defects in uniform SmC films. Island bounded by edge dislocation loops shrink and transform into isolated point defects under continued shear. Mechanical perturbatio provides a controllable route for defect engineering in smectric liquid crystal thin films.

Wake and wave resistance on viscous thin films

open access: yes, 2016
The effect of an external pressure disturbance, being displaced with a constant speed along the free surface of a viscous thin film, is studied theoretically in the lubrication approximation in one- and two-dimensional geometries.

Direct Gravity‐Induced Modulation of Cardiac Conduction Pathways Evidenced Through Propagation Features in Electrophysiological Mapping

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A high‐density wearable body‐surface potential mapping array reveals how gravity reshapes cardiac conduction in real time. By resolving spatiotemporal delay patterns invisible to conventional ECG, the platform uncovers posture‐dependent electrophysiological adaptations across the thorax.

Accuracy assessment of high and ultra high-resolution combined GGMs, and recent satellite-only GGMs – Case studies of Poland and Ethiopia

open access: yesReports on Geodesy and Geoinformatics
The launch of dedicated satellite gravity missions (CHAMP, GRACE, GOCE, and GRACE–FO), as well as the availability of gravity data from satellite altimetry and terrestrial/airborne gravity measurements have led to a growing number of Global Geopotential ...
