Separation of flocculated ultrafine coal by enhanced gravity separator

Particulate Science and Technology, 2016
ABSTRACTThe separation of ultrafine coal is inefficient due to the low settling velocity in centrifugal field. The feasibility of increasing particle size by flocculation to increase the separation efficiency is verified. The effect of flocculant on the size distribution of ultrafine coal was tested.

Separation of ram spermatids by sedimentation at unit gravity

Experimental Cell Research, 1974
Abstract Suspensions of 1 × 108 ram testis cells were prepared with trypsin and separated by velocity sedimentation at unit gravity in a non-linear Ficoll gradient. An improvement was made in the technique of cell suspension preparation to increase the viability of heat-sensitive germ cells. Six bands of cells numbered from I–VI were characterized by

Approximation Functions of Separation Curves for Gravity Separators

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006
Abstract The series of real-valued functions has been presented in the paper. It has been stated that this series of functions can be considered as the series of probability density functions. All probability density functions which constitute defined series of functions have the same mean value and the same variance.

Evolution of a phase separated gravity independent bioreactor

Advances in Space Research, 1992
The evolution of a phase-separated gravity-independent bioreactor is described. The initial prototype, a zero head-space manifold silicone membrane based reactor, maintained large diffusional resistances. Obtaining oxygen transfer rates needed to support carbon-recycling aerobic microbes is impossible if large resistances are maintained.
